Yes Tony, change the centres to what ever makes you happy cos you can allways change them again if you go off them. For what it's worth I kinda like the black too. :snaphappy: Your car your choice, no judgement from this sector.;).

To be honest Roy I think the black is best too and as Zedonist pointed out it's a sort of retro look, which I'm after. I often in the past painted my wheels black and silver rims because it was a cheaper way to smarten them up. Plus, back in the day F1 cars had them painted this way and it stuck with me.

I keep looking at that pic Tony (and like my spoiler) the more I look at it the more I like it, can't wait to have a proper look at your Z. Wired the rear camera up as far as the rollover hoop on passenger side, gotta remove h/t to finish in the next few days. Perpex deflector arrived yesterday( second one, ordered wrong one first) put pics up when finished.:bored:

I've just set that as my desktop background Roy, so I will see how the idea festers. TBH I think the seed has been sown. Many thanks to Nero, even though it's not your cup of tea.

Tony.

@t-tony Saw these and thought of you..

€139 :) http://www.spiegel-z3.de/chromsockel.html

Ash
Well Ash, this is spooky cos today while looking at my Z I noticed the driver side mirror mount bubbleing on the top, said to Myselfe might have to remove it and respray it. This is right up my street but €139 might be a bit too much at the moment when I'm looking at wheels, tyres, struts, springs to go with my latest MOD,a CDV.=))

I like the idea of a chrome mirror base Ash. To be fair it is only the o/s one, like Roy's, which is showing corrosion. It may have to added to the "to do" list as my new soft top fund is yo-yo ing a lot at the moment. But htank you for showing me these.:beer

Is it difficult to remove the original bases as I had some nuts and bolts chromed for £20
I honestly don't know Hugh, I had the similar thing happen to my old Eunos a few years ago and I stripped and repaired them much the same and when I bought a pair of chrome mirrors for it I soon had to do the same thing. I even made a special swan necked 8mm spanner to adjust the tension on the spring of the pivot point. I'm just thinking a chrome base might be nicer than a whole chrome mirror. I think if I strip the mirrors I will end up replacing the pivot assembly before rebuilding them to refit, just due to their age and condition.

If you go for these bases it looks like you will have to strip them down anyway. It might be an option,if there not past there sell by date

The base is secured to the mirror arm by a starlock washer, you can remove by using a dremmel and cutting through from each side. then replace the washer once you have swapped the base

I hope you enjoy my illustrative skills :D

Was just browsing eBay, and I'm not suggesting these are for you Tony. Thought you might like to see a set which have been finished in two tone - Tone ;)

Cheers for that Gaz, they do look very nice, and I think mine done in black and silver will be very nice. Are they for sale on eBay?

Tony.

These will match the under bonnet treatment of the 'hairdresser' drift car well...@Tommy Bates
Will look good on @Lee 's car too with the pearl wrap and red halos!
