So today was a bits day, so many little bits to sort. First for me was getting the front end back together, this also gets a lot of hardware out the way.
Strange view seeing the hubs with no hardware attached.

Within an hour of getting the front partly together a delivery arrived with the rest of the bits needed to finish. So here’s the finished front, some items are finger tight at this stage.

Don’t worry about paint overspray on the disc because the first time you use them they create the perfect line. You’ll notice some nice upgrades here, Yellow stuff EBC pads, powerflex roll bar bushes also braided lines.

Whilst I was finishing the front Paul came over to help rub down the new (second hand) sills. They flattened them off and got 3 coats of primer on. We’re by no means paint experts so we’re very much learning.

In preparation for the new sills we treated the bad under sill with some Hammerite under seal. First coat went on late in the day, ready for a few more coats tomorrow.

this morning I collected the huge batch of powder coated items ready for the next few car builds we have booked in. We also trialed a spare wheel carrier that came out amazing. Looks like a pile of scrap here.

All so pretty after powder coating. We’re now getting a 2 day turn around on a full car load.
We finished up today giving the diff a rub down and a coat of hammered black. Getting ready or fitting the rear subframe tomorrow.

She’s getting there. Feels like every Zed build we do we peel the Zed back further and further.

Just can't believe I said those sills would probably be ok when I came down and looked and tapped them. After seeing them removed I now think that it was a lucky guess. You done wonders with the bits you've sent for powder coating and those front axle stubs look real nice with nothing attached showing us all the replacement bushing. Wish I had a Z3 to bring down for a make over. 10/10 to you and your merry men.

Really enjoyed my last visit. Thanks for pulling me for my front pads, they're in the post as we speak.( no tickets for red light jumpers either, ..........yet=)) )

Roy.

Paul you won’t recognise her, Jan and I just had a 435 mile round trip in Zelda what an amazing drive she is now, only thanks to the Zed shed, as for the breaking that’s another story WOW.

@Bazza they drive so well once they are sorted. It’s only when you drive a zedshed special, that you realise how great these little z3’s are.

Next update is actually a couple of days worth, spent some time Friday and today.

Friday was assembling the subframe and getting that back in. Also drilling out the exhaust studs, that was a nightmare I ended up having to buy Cobolt drills to make it through the high tensile steel.

subframe about to be lifted

new fuel tank straps.
C983451F-F39C-430D-A634-5C1D1167B700.jpeg

we also gave some areas under the car a waxoil treatment to keep the weather off.
BB1ACBD7-32A2-46FE-91F5-5C3951790DC5.jpeg

To make life easier we removed the prop shaft so the subframe was bolted in place within minutes.
4B0C7E73-57F9-4FC0-AF5F-132D556DC226.jpeg

Once that was torqued up we fitted a new flex disc to the gearbox.
5F3B8217-BB6B-4CC2-8F6D-CEAC839C9246.jpeg

working my way up front we fitted some more powder coated bling.
E738A426-47D7-4923-9123-54AE0CA4B3AF.jpeg

then the dreaded exhaust flanges I drilled out. I dropped the size down to M8 bolts due to the struggle I was having getting through, this alone took me 2/3 hours and £80 worth of cobolt drills.
D053DBDA-6F07-4807-8B4E-6E02701E9199.jpeg
We also cleaned up the passenger sill and gave it a good coating.

so now it’s just the rear discs to go on... when they arrive.

Today we fitted various trays and got the exhaust back on. She’s very nearly finished, I also need the wheels from Mr Gunter so I can get wheels down, oh and a pair of finished sills.

Next post will be wheels down.

Today we finally got wheels down. We connected the brake lines, fitted the spare wheel carrier and under tray. All that’s left is the sills and quarter panels, they would of been done but the paint and chip protection reacted with each other.

Gave the new discs a coat of silver to stop the rust.

nice crisp brake line connections.

Once down I had the privilege of test driving her with no sills. The ride height is nice on KYB springs, not as SUV as I first thought. Also for a first a complete clear dash of lights.

Other than the sills this completes the build. Hopefully in the coming months we’ll fit the 2.8 engine to spice things up.

Well today Ebbee came home. A few more little bits to sort but she drives amazingly well. Got the tracking done after leaving the Zedshed and well, I can imagine now what these zeds were like when the first owner took them from the dealers. Amazing drive.

Here is Ebbee at Home.
