I think the difference here is who has access to your info. If you are looking at the government in its various forms then yes you are on to a loser as nothing is hidden from them through legal means or otherwise. For most of us the danger is the scammer or crook who will often operate from the other side of the country or world so are unlikely to canvas your neighbours but from just using the net may be able to find your address, hobbies, family names and birthdays, where your kids go to school , what car you drive and so on and that can put you at risk.

This is what it is all about boys & girls......
Was looking for a photo of a wrecked Z3 that a Dutch lad had crashed, after borrowing his dads car, to post in a discussion on another thread a few days ago.
This photo had been in the newspapers, so was already in the public domain.

What I also found were photos of my totaled Z that had been ripped from this forum......

So people, post up your e.mail address, phone numbers etc, at your own peril.......

Agreed Mike. We tend to forget that our although we are very friendly on here, our Zed family is open to the whole World Wide Web and all the nasty things it entails:eek:

I was looking earlier for pics of the location of the H.K Amp and in the list of pics was Rha's zed ? Not even related but must be linked in a post somewhere.
Had pics of my last zed appear on an ebay listing advertising suspension i had not even fitted ! On querying it the company removed the image.

Yep, anything we post on here in the open forum is immediatley in the 'Public Domain', as you say Mike, PM's are useful. Not sure about stuff in NSFW, is that viewable?

No. You have to have logged in via a valid account, and secondly have opted in to access it. Search engines can't see it as they can only access public content - the same as anyone browsing without logging in.

Only if you, as a member of this forum, click the box so to say, and agree to view/read it.

I would just like to bring this thread to members attention again.
As you can read, people find it quite an amusing one...

If you want to get yourself's hacked, let alone other members, by posting their private info as well, then you are doing a good job.
Had a chat with a forum member the other day who's Face Book page was hacked and his page was not even in the public domain. (Friends Only)

To be honest, us Mods are sick of editing posts with private information on them.
As said many times before, the PM (Private Message) system was not created without a reason.
If you are not sure how to use it, ask us.

Have given Irish firm (wheel supplier ) pics and permission to use em for wheel ad but haven't heard back from them, maybe they past the pics on. Pics of the between seats sub woofer mod may have come from this site but knew and excepted this problem, wouldn't put anything up that might course me a problem, hopefully. The PM facility is a good compromise.

Especially with all the Covid-19 scams out there at the moment.

Oh well, obviously not much going on on the forum to have a thread from April 2015 resurrected.
When I posted this I was a moderator on the forum.
