My daughter needs to refurb the wheels on her TT and I'm not sure which is best powder coat or paint. Has anybody got any recommendations please.

Brian

Thanks for those replies. Made my mind up as well. The guy says when they powder coat the wheels the whole wheel is shotb lasted and that should cure the leak on one rim where this was extra for the guy who was going to paint them.

Will put some pics up when she has them done.

You don't get the best finish with paint. It's powder coating all the way

hi brian i would paint and clear coat.
the heat that is used in the powder coating process can change the integrity of the wheel.
i am going with paint :ymdevil: :ymdevil:

Mine have been painted then clear coated.. ;)

It won t have much affect the cure temp is only 160 - 200 degrees, and only for a short time.

I would recommend Powder over paint, as it is a full refurb, and the finish is more durable.

Super lightweight magnesium wheels are not recommended to be powder coated due to the cure temps as it can make them brittle but standard alloy wheels are perfectly fine.

So as a word of caution any zedders fitted with black or dark metallic coloured Light Weight Mag Wheels do not start to drive across death valley, you will not make it to the other side ;)
