I know what a Vanos is. However, a standard 1.9 0-60 time is 9 seconds and 127mph top speed. Are you saying you have modded the engine somewhat? :)

Yes mine does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 148.7536 mph

none yet bonzo, going for a remap soon, at the end of the day comparing zed engines is like comparing bananas and tomatoes, they are both fruit, but you have one on your ham sandwich and one with custard. after 25 years of driving i have never once used the 0 -60 of any car i have owned or seen anyone in everyday driving do so, so is a mute point really, and if our cars were racing they would be in a series for the actual engine size competing like for like. that said i would say that if yours is not lowered or got H&R ARB's fitted it wont go round bends as good as mine, and this part of the car gets used every time i drive it and always puts a smile on my face if you have then you know how it feels. (M44 is still the best, its Massive!) ;) and yes it is fun the banter.

It's a recognized fact that 1.9's are sharper at turning in than the 6 pots due to much less weight up front, but I have to say I am happy to trade a bit of that for the delicious low revs torque we have under our right foot. Having said that, I came across a hump back bridge at a fair rate of knots on a road that was new to me the other day, only to find a 90 left on the other side, but Zelda didn't let me down and tracked around it with no drama! I take it you have driven ' a big six ' ?

I've been thinking about a remap too, but after a blast, I think, 'why.'

yes i have driven many sixes, find them lazy unthrilling animals, the 1.9 i like all 16v likes to be driven on the revs and is an exciting beast, have you ever driven a M44?

Er.......yes of course. :angelic: I guess I'm happy with the 2.8 sixer because it ticks many different boxes, she'll rev to 6,500 as well, and c'mon, 24 valves has got to be better than a mere 16!

Before the M44 I had a fully loaded V6 Merc, god, that was a boring car.

i dont think 24 is better than 16, they are different engines and as you say yours appeals to you and mine appeals to me, other than the engine though the cars are identical, handle the same, look the same etc (well mine handles better now)

It's great that you love your Z so much.We all have different ideas what we want from a car and this forum as a really wide variety of choices under one car, from catwalk queens to racers and everything in between,it's a great car! My choice came down to one thing,Doughnuts!!!! I love them, I can't get enough of them, that's why I always buy budget tyres, mmmmm the smell of burning rubber .2.8 gets 9 out of ten the M 10 out of ten!never driven a 1.9 what's it like for doing doughnuts ?
