Hi all,

I'm hoping to get my first project car (2001 1.9 Z3) on the road by May after it’s sat on stands in my garage for 10 months.

I've serviced it and added new plugs and ignition leads, new valve cover gasket, refurbished and painted the brake calipers and replaced the brake hoses (and a section of brake line).

Changed the oil in the diff and the gearbox.

Wheels have been refurbed and powder coated and had new tyres.

To do: refit calipers and change brake fluid, front suspension struts and control arms, cooling system refresh with new thermostat and water pump and fit my new sills once they've been sprayed. Flush the power steering fluid too.

Oh, and fit new fuel tank straps (thanks Mazza!). And install the new Bluetooth stereo and DAB Ariel.

And fix the window which I think has come off its runner.

Got all the parts, all the tools, just need to find the time now...

Well, 2 years after I bought her, she’s finally done and it’s MOT day tomorrow.

Since I got her I’ve done:

New sills and repaired the corrosion on the inners
Taken all the MSport badges off
Refurbished brake calipers
New discs and pads
New rear brake lines and new hoses all round
New handbrake shoes, springs and pins
New battery
New front shock absorbers and top mounts
New control arms and track rod ends
DAB aerial and radio
New OEM gear knob
Refurbished wheels and new tyres
Engine service including ignition leads
New valve cover gasket
Changed diff oil
Changed gearbox oil
Headlight polish
New plates and plinth
Door handle gaskets
Wire brushed and under sealed trailing arms
New tank straps (thanks @Mazza )
Power steering fluid flush and change

I bought her as a project, having never done more than an oil change before and have learned so much as I’ve gone along. I absolutely couldn’t have done it without the help and advice of everyone on this forum so thank you to any of you who have taken the time to give me tips and advice (and sell me parts @spurs fan in a coupe!)

Fingers crossed she passes!
