Sadly the reality of a wife on maternity leave, 3 under threes and a big mortgage meant a diesel clio was the rather dull and slow end product!
Don't worry Andy you won't be stuck with the Clio forever. Sell the kids and proceeds can go towards something you'd much rather be driving like a Z coupe! :D

Better to go with your no.1 choice - Cayman, GTS spec. Will hold the value a lot more and certainly fun especially now they have dropped the 6 cylinder for the 4 turbo. Prices are already more than a new one :)

TT are like the old xr3 's

The 220's are great but not the real thing of course  ( I do know some vx owners too ;))
Wise words I know, and agree the GTS will be the correct choice with depreciation in mind.

I loved the banter between the VX and Lotus owners, really miss that.

Well, after a long wait Audi have released the option prices for the new TTRS.

They are having a laugh, no mag suspension like the TTS, they want extra for that.
£800 to colour the front grilles, £800 for a little carbon on the centre console, £1600 for the mag suspension and noise exhaust (which you have to get for resale) and lastly £1595 for the decent wheels.
Not to mention more if you want the latest fancy lights.

Too expensive for an Audi, don't care how fast it is, I've cancelled my build slot. I don't see a TT as a £60,000 car, especially seeing as they haven't even given it wider arches.

£60000! :wideyed:. Bloody hell, that is one very expensive Audi TT!

After owning a mark 3 TT Quattro 230 Bhp for almost 18 months I would not advise ownership.
ooooh, do tell

I'm now looking at used TTs models which have dipped in value a bit now for the first time in about a year.

Should I avoid?

Only heard good stuff so far.

2. Slightly used Alfa 4C for around 45k but I'm worried about the auto box packing up..
Want a great looking supercar for a fraction of the price? get that one.

I've always seen the TT as hairdresser's car...or a coupe version or the Golf (boring), regardless the BHP that it packs up.
The 4c is:

1. Great driving experience (old fashion if you wish, more pure but not as radical as a Lotus)
2. Goes like stink
3. A real headturner

Had to have drivers and passengers seat renewed due to faulty electric motors which had to take to dealers 4 times to get done. The frameless side windows freeze to the rubber so you can't open the doors as widows should drop about 5mill to allow you to open door all the dealer gave me was a can of de-icer, the radio keeps playing traffic announcements ,Audi are awaiting fix for this (had car 18 months).if you drive the car hard it returns about 12 mpg having said this it is a awesome car let down by useless main dealers.

Get the Alpha, you'll spend loads of time sat on the hard shoulder but you'll look very cool :cool:

That is such a shame, lovely looking car in red.

If I do get one I'll make sure it's still under warranty.

Might just wait now, see what new cars are coming for late next year.

Thought I wanted a new Cayman, but listened to one starting up and leaving a petrol station and instantly dismissed it. What on earth have Porsche done, the flat six made such a lovely noise.

I love the look of the 4C but the interior lets it down.

And I just don't trust the gearbox, why didn't they do a manual one?

Update to this thread, a friend of mine announced that he's buying a 911 turbo so he has to sell his lovely 981 Boxster S that's very highly specced. That 6 cylinder engine is amazing, makes you turn the radio off.

So I gave him a little more than the Porsche dealer offered him, two happy bunnies.

Quick update to this old thread.

I test drove the TTRS today, I'm sure I was going to want it.

Put your foot down and there's a two second delay before anything happens, awful.

Tried it a few times, was the same each time, really not what I expected.

Wasn't actually as quick as I thought it would be, I think the fast 0-60 times quoted are down to clever launch control.

I tried a RS6 last year and that was much faster, and more instant.

So I didn't buy it, back to the drawing board, shame because it's a lovely looking car.

Mmm all nice choices , I'm a massive Audi TT fan , I've had 3 mk1,s but wouldn't consider a mk2, there externally a bit dull , out off ure choices the Alfa 8c wins it's worth considering a used Nissan GT-R , they really are awesome with 470 bhp in standard form, you'll forget the badge when ure grining like a Cheshire cat after driving one,

I went to see an R8 on Monday, think that's probably going to be the one, just have to "borrow" a bit more cash off the missus.

Not looked at Gtr's yet, but agree they're a special machine.

For 50K I'd be steering clear of ttrs, no where near special enough.

R8 on the other hand!
