Ha! just sold my Galaxy 1.9 115 PS to buy Frank Martin, believe me when you say it is big, it is not when you have four kids, no storage! you should not have any problems like that at the moment.

What i found great was that all the seats are removable, so you can go from car to van in no time.

It is worth buying the VAGOM CD and cable as yours like mine is a VW engine and electrical system, save a lot of money diagnostics.

Key things on this vehicle are keep your eye on oil levels, as it does burn oil, but is normal on this engine, just top up as and when. The engine runs cold as normal, will get to temperature during warmer months, but are fitted with an auxiliary diesel heater for colder months, you will notice if not working, as in the winter the engine will not warm up, which is an indication that the auxiliary glow plug is faulty (easy fix), other tell tale tale sign is smoke on startup as it uses diesel, so if the glow plug malfunctions, puff of smoke. Drive shafts (driver side only) prone to wearing, this will be a slight knock on take up when pulling away, be careful because if it goes you will have no drive. Rear wash wipe water pipes, these can come apart and flood the passenger well and affect your electric windows. The pipe runs down the passenger side of the car and the joint is right in the passenger footwell, if the rear wash does not work and the front does, then the pipe has come apart, again easy fix. other than those issues, they are a brilliant car and drive.

For audio put some Sony 17" speakers front and middle, leave the rear, sound will be awesome.

Plenty of mods for the lights and some nice wheels about, enjoy

Its been used on the interior door handles Richard as a common problem is the rubber coating wears off. :)

Ok Liam, so you bought it for a Monkey and it looks like it uses a quite a bit of oil! Yeah.

Thanks for the info Zedonist ;)

I've already changed to stereo but might take alook into the speaker swop.

Its booked into Jabbasport here in Peterborough tomorrow for a Remap and all fluids change. Want it tip top for winter. Should see 140bhp and 50lbs more torque :D she needs it as its abit sluggish compared to our mapped polo!

Another great feature is the heated 'front' windscreen! I thought only fords had this? Should be great when its frosty

The lead OEM was the Galaxy team at Ford, but as a cross platform they used all VAG drive train, and Ford bin parts for everything else, which included the heated windscreen, heated seats and climate control, the one difference is that in the VW Sharan, they had a different centre console, so fitting a true double din stereo could be done without having to change switches and panels etc. reason i fitted a single din stereo on mine. the only other differences were then cosmetic, and the addition of the ford V6 engine to the range.

Your wing mirrors should be heated too, the only thing i miss now with the transporter is the heated windscreen. You should also have ISO Fix for kids seats also

I had the same problem on the rubber finish on the handles too, they are only £8 from the dealers if you want to keep standard.

My understanding is that you should be able to get more than 140 BHP on a remap of this engine, check out Pendle Performance, they are respected in the VW community
