Oh and don't forget if you want email's to tell you when a thread has been updated - click on "Subscribe Topic". It's just below the "post reply" button at the top of each thread.

It would appear that as the development of phpBB has moved on they decided to stop auto subscription, and made it 'opt in'!
You should be able to change your settings in the user control panel to subscribe automatically to receive notifications too :)

What is the difference between "view new posts" and "view unread posts". Aren't the "new posts" all unread?
I liked "view posts since last visit" on .net.......that was simple.
I just don't know which to click on..am I just thick....? (Please be sensitive in choosing answer :D )

New posts are post that have been added to previous posts
Unread posts are ones that have no posts at all

I think that's right.

My understanding of it is.

New posts are posts since your last visit. Very handy this facilty.

Unread posts posts are posts that are unread by you.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

In .net you just got a list of posts. In .org you get a list of threads.

I prefer the .net version.

I think...

New posts = Threads that have had posts added to since your last visit.

First unread post = First post added to thread after your last visit
..............(even though you may have never visited the tread before)

Unread posts = Threads that have not been read by you EVER.

Unanswered posts = Threads that have only one post and no replies.

Active topics = Threads whose last post was within a preset time.

so far in "unread posts" I can see posts that I have read, as well as posted in, as well as some I have never read, So shouldnt that be "view ALL posts ever"

In new posts it shows anything that has had an addition new since my last visit, so I think I will stick with that.one as the nearest to "view posts since last visit"

Well i see Tim Cullis has been posting on his other site yet hasnt even bothered to reply to the questions being asked on .net. Says it all to me. I think i know which site i will be using, think it will only be a matter of time that i faze out .net and probably use this as my only z roadster site. A site that shows support for its members, all that is needed is for the members to show thier support for the admin team and start filtering over here. As for the knowledge base of .net can we not start moving it over here under a new heading :-! *-:)
