My Z3 (re)built

I'm sure you'd do well, you're off to a good start and I'm sure the demand is out there. You obviously have a talent and maybe add a couple of business courses to it and have a go. It's baby steps to start but nothing beats being your own boss. We'll all be able to say that we knew you back when you were nothing but someone willing to go with their gut!! JIM

I am going to start it first in my spare time. Then I could do a 4/5 job (a handy this our belgian government invented), then parttime...then who knows.... that way I can see if there is demand for it. I've checked the web and there are some, but not many, companies fabricating parts (large scale). And a lot reselling those parts.
So the issue/challenge will be to get into the circle of racers and racing teams.
They will have the most demand for fibreglass parts.

It hard to make a business case as I don't know how big the demand may be.

We'll see what the future brings...

If anyone hears about somebody interested in fibreglass parts, you can always sent them to me.
For the moment I'm open to suggestions & wishes of potential customers.

Koen

A couple more pictures of the body moulds there were released from the body parts today.

While one of the fiberglass layers is drying in process of making the moulds of the sills, started on the doors today:

I dismantled the complete drivers door and weight the parts:

All motors, fixings, lock, rubbers, loom, etc : 5,4 Kg (Yes, I deducted the weight of the box)
Front (fix) window + window guide: 2,3 Kg
Window itself: 2,6 Kg
Mirror: 0,8 Kg
Bare door skin: 13,3 Kg

Total of 24,4 Kg + the door card and fixings (that I already removed, so didn't weigh them).

This can now be prepped to make the fiberglass mould from.
First outer skin, then cut it up (down the edge), then I can do the inner skin
And by the looks of it, the inner skin is also in 2 layers... :sour:
...will take some time to get it all done...1 mould takes 5-7 days.... if nothing goes wrong, otherwise I can start from scratch.

But we will be getting there.......... bit by bit

Had a couple of hours todat, so fitted the inside of the drivers door. And fitted the lock to the outside.
Not as easy as i thought it would be...

And some pictures...because without pictures it didn't happen

@ALEC
Orinoco on here is breaking a car.
Spurs in a Coupe Fan is a breaker of Z's on here too.
I have bought parts from both and can recommend as great sellers.
Sorry for OT!

This looks AWSOME man !!! Great work , I would like to buy some fiberglass light blanks off you haha
That wouldn't be any issue.
Moulds have been made for some time.
But can't keep up with fabrication and fitment for the moment.
First up it the left side door.
Then rear quarter panels.
Light pods are small and could be done somewhere in between.
Have to make a first sample first before i can/want-to sell to customers.
Will keep you posted in this thread of any updates.

Regards, Koen
