My Project Z4

"Is it just my imagination"
Took the car for a run since fitting the Ramair, third gear acceleration, well wow!! It feels more responsive and quicker, and thats without the magic sport button.:racecar:
Really must behave myself.:coolsteer)

I'm sure it makes a difference Paul. It's not just the extra noise. Probably makes the grin a little wider too.

Tony.

Yes Paul, me n Grumps are fitting a tailgate in the pm.

Fitted the heat shield today. Thanks to @t-tony for the materials namely a sheet of Aluminium, some chassis screws and a cardboard box,
The first attempt wouldn't have been very good as made of card board but it was only a template. So after making a pattern, cut the aluminium and shaped to size, not quite that simple re fitted and cut several more times to prevent fowling the lower water hoses and touching the Alternator. Painted the inner side two coats of primer and two coats of black paint followed by clear coat lacquer, sourced some finishing strip off e bay to cover sharp edges and give it a finished look. Two brackets attached to the front panel and the inner wheel arch helped secure the shield to the car, overall very happy with the look. I also have on order a aluminium sleeve to further help cooling, not sure if i need it but will give it a go but don't want to spoil the look.

Grand job Paul.

Looks good

Well done

BMW Ruby Black - it’s a Z4 colour too.
Paint Code: X03

Get your steering wheel trims done also to complete the interior.
Finally got the Steering spokes painted, did try the carbon wrap but didn't seem right so painted in Matt Black.

Spent the afternoon visiting Wheel refurb set ups. Gone with the most expensive purely because they knew what they were talking about, took various wheels outside to my car to give me an idea about colour and finish. Was leaning towards Shadow grey but after seeing silver with "sparkle" it had to be, looks as it should be with just a hint of bling.
Booked in next Wednesday for 2 days. Would have been cheaper if i just took the wheels but too much of a faff for me plus they will balance the wheels afterwards.
Will post pictures when i have it back

Aiming for the end of the month to get mine done Paul then save up for tyres.

Tony.

Me too, tyres OK but odd makes:(
The sensible thing would be to buy tyres first then the cosmetic stuff, but then is owning a Z sensible, probably not but does wonders for my sanity.

Sounds familiar mate. =))

Well car dropped off today so away for a couple of days. Changed my mind again re colour going for a slightly shadowed base coat with silver face. Takes a couple of days as wheels being dipped powder coated then tyres re balanced after.
Must be getting attached to the Z4 now as felt sad leaving it! Will get some pics up on its return

Where are you getting the wheels done?

Cars back with its shiny new wheels, first thoughts bit more grey than anticipated, but the more i look the more i like!
Pity the suns not out because that really shows the silver fleck in the paint.
Had time to have a good look at all four wheels and to appreciate the great job done by Danum Powder Coatings.
As the wheels were showing signs of corrosion and the bad kerb damage by the previous owner the cheaper option of just painting was never really on so after the full monty here is a couple of pictures of the result, just the N/S/F (most vulnerable) in the Pictures but all 4 are to the same high standard.

Before
The picture doesn't show the lacquer peel and corrosion, just the kerb damage

After
Also treat the wheels to new centres

Looking forward to giving the car the full works and taking some pictures with the Sun shining.
