You need to keep both rear wings as you will have to trim them and use them to mount the rear grp bodywork. Don't get rid of them!
Too late!!!

I'm assuming this is something you California guys do? I'm building a 507 and I'm wondering if keeping just the very top of my rear wings would have helped fill the gap between the metal and GRP along the sides.

Chris at Tribute tells me that the 507 kit was originally modeled on a PreFaceLift Z3. That has lower wings than postfacelift. So maybe my prefacelift wing-tops would have filled the gap. But with the lack of any instruction, and eager to crack on, I chucked my rear wings out for the rag and bone man. No matter. I'm going to extend the old boot rim upwards to fill the gap.

2 ways of building the California, Bonded on in which case you will need the rear wings or bolt on in which case you don't need the rear wings.
The California doesn't have any gaps around the boot.

Small update;
I have spent the last month (when I can) cleaning and removing more leaves, compost, etc from the car. I have now removed over four binbags of woodland stuff (all brought in by mice who made the car a home while it was stored).
I will be picking up most of the parts including the body in the next couple of weeks.

The carpets were absolutely sodden, so removed them and hung them up to drip dry. Took a while, as the garage isn't very warm, even with heating. Once dry I gave them a good clean with some automotive shampoo and loosely put them back in the car, to save space more than anything.

I have removed the seat bases from the seats and given them a good overhaul. Greased all moving parts and re-painted the metalwork with Hammerite black smooth.

I have also cleaned the entire engine bay and given it a dosing of silicone-based stuff.

Yesterday and today I have painted the front suspension turrets, so the transformation from Topaz Blue to (?) Red has begun. Lots and lots of masking and prep. Painting a cold steel car is challenging with rattle cans, as I found out. Takes an age for the paint to 'cure'. Paint is RAL 3020, as it is easily available, fairly cheap and red. I haven't decided on a specific red for the exterior body yet, but the RAL won't be too far off so is acceptable for interior bits.
I need to replace the air filter housing with a cone-type induction kit, as the 250 wings infringe on the OEM housing.

A couple of pics of work so far

Re your other thread. I think @GazHyde may be able to adjust the settings so only you plus admin can post to the thread.
I don't want that. I am happy for posts or discussions relevant to the build, but just have this idea that as it might be useful to other dummies, I would like to keep it relevant. It is likely to be a very long (and potentially arduous) thread! If I live long enough! :)

It's prettty much impossible on such an active freindly forum. Off topic replies don't just happen. Poster#2 replies and Poster#3 comments on what #2 said and so it goes on. Each reply IS elated to the one before it but the link to the original topic becomes tenuous. Only way would be some kind of readonly thread owned by the OP. But that defeats the object.

I agree it is tricky and I don't want a thread that becomes a monologue as that isn't the point. I am more guilty than most of sending a thread off topic, especially on another forum. I suppose what I am asking is that it doesn't become a 'conversation' between two people about something else not relevant.
I want input on the thread as it could help me and others reading it. We shall see how it pans out.
