True again, but the strength of the screen as part of the vehicle structure isn't a testable item, yet. If you look at the testers manual on here a see the actual size of zone "A" you might be surprised how small it really is.

Regarding Jack Ratt's comment about using you experience to judge things, absolutely bang on. Younger testers don't have this and cover their arse by failing things which maybe shouldn't fail.

Tony.

its not within the swept area - A. its on the passenger side, near the edge. yes it would weaken the screen though. but it may still fail on some thing else:nailbiting:. my only saving grace is they want to close early today. I drive it daily and it should be obvious if something is wrong, but this isn't always the case, i had a spring go just like tony described, and i didn't notice even when driving hard. The zed failed a couple of years ago on lower ball joint and again i couldn't feel it.

That's really the whole point of the test, to find faults before they're so bad that you do notice them, at which stage they could be dangerous.

PASSED yeh:party:. 2 advisory - obviously windscreen and the other (had the same for years) front number plate broken but can be read and is unlikely to fall off. he did say there is wear and deterioration on the suspension geometry but is not unusual on a car of this age and he has not put it in the advisory's (guess i will be crawling around under my zed come summer). i was expecting the passenger lower arm as i changed the drivers side a couple of years back due to a failed ball joint but its still ok. so now i can wait till the screen is 12 months old before claiming again (wouldn't want them to bump up my premium, think i need to have a chat with a certain member on here when renewal is due)

Mine goes green, i use milton on it, i did try steam cleaning it once (the idea was to kill it) the only true way i find is to scrub it with a brush and soapy water (though milton does get rid of it for a while).

I'll get some Milton next time I'm in Asda :p
Do you use it neat or have to dilute it first :)
I did go over the roof with a nail brush a couple of months ago :)
But the green has come back .......:)
I do feel embarrassed about it
We have got roof cleaner ( think it's greased lightning) but don't seam to have done the job :)

i think you are supposed to dilute it, i dont, i use it neat, it has not bleached the roof ( originally i diluted it but it came back, i got so annoyed i used it neat and hey no more green roof) try it on a small area first. it cant be that strong as its used to sterilize baby stuff. (and kills green stuff real fast)

We've had the windscreen replaced recently in the 'family car' Ideally they need 3/4 hours of absolutely dry weather to replace the windscreen outwith their premises. Sounds very much like an MOT failure. Not good

t's the easiest and safest option for them. I see it every day in my job. One of my colleagues must have the highest rejection figures of any of our surveyors. For him to pass it, the equipment has to be almost pristine.
When I had my own company, we were machining some large oilfield equipment with our state of the art (at the time) Moriseiki SL8 CNC lathe and the customer sent in 3rd party inspection. I knew who the b*****d was when he turned up.
He said we had imperfections on the inside diameter and had to re-machine and that was a right bi***, as we were close on tolerance. We had re-done half of the items when he came back and checked the lot again and signed off for every one of them as he thought we had done them all..!! One look from me and the boys kept their gobs shut.
Just shows you, you are dealing with human beings, maybe he had not got laid the night before his first visit but probably had before he came the second time (No pun intended)
