Mirrors back to standard

Easy enough to get them off?
Its not all one badge so using a plastic trim remover each piece comes away from the paint, an old credit card would do as well, some glue residue soon comes off then a quick wipe, its as if they were never there

I always use some fishing line with masking tape around just in case. Then remove any glue residue with T-cut. It takes a little while but is safer than glue remover or acetone IME.
It's easier when the weather's cold cos the glue doesn't 'smear'

I used Maquires paint cleaner, its pretty gentle and yes it was bloody cold doing it.

Would a autoglym tar remover do the job?
Yep its basicly glue and tar remover, the residue glue mostly comes of with the badge any bigger bits of glue i managed to remove by rolling the glue with my thumb if that makes sense? Any final residue came off with the paint cleaner / tar remover

sorry last question, Im reading you should warm the emblem up first to make the glue, gooey. Yet you mention you did it in the cold, so no need to warm the area up?

Stripe removal, yes comes of better if the glue is warmed but for badges the glue is easier to remove cold

Thanks for the tips, got both sides off today. One side left far more glue than the other so will have to sort those out over the weekend

Definitely prefer the white mirror caps but it's weird how we all have different tastes - I much prefer the old style indicator lenses but the current E89 is a facelift model so I'm stuck with the chrome flashes.

Previously (my last 2 E89's) I have removed the wing badges using dental floss and WD40 to get rid of any residue but this time I reckon I am going to keep it stock. My rationale being that I can't imagine there are many 18i's driving around with the original badges still on because the majority of owners will want to hide the fact they are driving the base model. Well that and the fact I didn't want to have to contact the insurance company to inform them of a modification to the car ;)
