Hi James
This is the first time since I registered on Dec 6th that I have had to log in :-o I was amazed that I remembered my password as my computer did not automatically bring it up #:-s
Didn't realise to start with that I wasn't logged in, thought, God where's everything gone. :-s

well done for remembering. We are always on hand if anyone gets stuck so never worry if anything happens that you are not sure about. Everyone will have had to login again this evening since I changed the cookie setting, I did for the first time in weeks too ;)

good stuff - if it happens again then it will require a cookie clearing session in your browser, and hoover up the crumbs too ;)

Have you cleared all your cookies and temporary internet files? everything you can clear that's not saved passwords and forms etc. ?

it's PC related your end i'm sure so we just need to get to the bottom of why it's happening. Gary and I have been testing over 5 or 6 different browsers and just can't get it to fail and as others have posted they have been logged in with no issue since day one. We will figure it out in time :)

What antivirus software are you running, if any, as this could also interfere ?

Thanks,
James

Have all the cookies and temporary internet files been cleared.

How it works is that when you connect and login a file with your details is recorded in your browser cache. The next time you come to the site the browser will look up this file and get your details so you don't need to login. I think there must be some setting on your computer that is either not keeping the cookie or it's ignoring it. When you visit the site each time do you go to the home page or have you bookmarked a page on the forum that you jump to?

If you have bookmarked a page maybe you could try going to http://zroadster.org first and then move on to the forum from there after logging in and see how that performs.

Maybe it's the icicles on the line from you house on the internet connection :D

I'm getting the same problems on some of the other forums/websites I log into, so I don't think it is purely a .org problem

Will try doing a clearout of cookies and temporary files next

I have done this, i regular clear for maintenance, and i am aware you then

I feel its more involved though
I came to this thread via an email, then had to log in

Ray, are you using internet explorer 8 I ask because doing a quick google seems to come up with quite a few hits indicating there is a problem in ie8 that causes this problem with no known cure from what I can see other than complete reinstall as suggested from some people. It maybe worth upgrading to ie9 and see if that helps.

Incidentally I have seen one weird where unticking the "remember me" box cured the problem so you could try that one.

How do you normally go to the web page?
If you use a shortcut you may need to delete and recreate it if it is pointing at other than http://zroadster.org
