Hi Jim,

To stay on threads coupe is on 185,000miles at the moment, I've driven it nearly everyday for the last 8 years, putting about 90,000 of those miles on myself.

Other than the cracked boot floor my car has never broken down. Starts first time every time.

Prone to rust on the side sills, front wings by the wheel below the indicator and on the wing mirror bases.

Just get ready to refuel and put new tyres on the rear quite often.

Great cars

(Little man is great thanks Jim, he is 14 months already, can't believe it's his 2nd Christmas! Merry Christmas to you and your family)
Right back at 'cha's! It's amazing how fast time goes by so grab every second and cherish it. I spent yesterday velcroed to my grandson. Finally got to hold him as he lives in Chile, and he'll be one Jan 4. Give Henry a hug for me! JIM

Hey Roy, I came across these today too.

The led drl's are wired through a control box which when connected to the sidelight circuit switches off the drl's when you put the lights on. I haven't connected into the sidelights as yet.;)

Nice pics of very individual Z, still have lots more ideas for mine Tony, have ordered DRLs just waiting on delivery, camera's in and working but haven't had a chance to retrieve any footage yet, will order perpex wind deflector after Chrimbo put it in fix rear view camera to it and let you know, do the same for DRLs. Can you legaly drive with DRLs and H/L at same time, our DS3 DRLs switch off automatically when I switch to headlights and there's no facility to have them on with H/L.:wideyed:

HT that brings back sad memories of my mk1 RS 2000, stollen when I took my 3girls to cinema and they persuaded me to go in with them,it was parked over the road from the local Police Station. The film was Disney's DUMBO. Not really but might as well have been. Sob sob, stollen to order by vehicle ringer gange. In my loft I still have the twin cibbie oscars plus the Luke 3point harnesses which were only fitted for the night events. Just can't part with them. Memories,:sorry:

Can you please explain those sentiments to my beloved? She thinks I should get rid of some, meaning all, of my many projects and rare parts. She actually drove the Zed one day, yet still no comment positive or negative and be damned if I'll ask her. JIM

Tell you what Roy, those Oscars would be better serving someone who wants have his/her Mk 1 fitted up properly. I f you like your Z as much as I do, do an Escort owner a huge favour and sell them mate. Make some one happy for Christmas and spend the money on your Z.:)
TBH I'm not too sure re the LED's but often see "modern" cars with them fitted that still have them illuminated with main lights on. Never had any problem with the Police either.
Thank you re my " Individual" car, that's my aim as stated to BMBabe. OK, so not to every ones taste but, tough, it's mine.:)

You don't have to ask her Jim, just ask yourself why didn't she slate the Z as soon as she got out of it, I know and so should you, but hell man do you really think she's gonna tell you how much she loves the Z----------------------------------------and you. ;););)

Same here then Jim, if you're not using these "rare" parts why not let another owner have them and use them to put another car back into use. I can't get my head round some one who wants to keep parts that they don't/wont use. Why not use them to fund what you're currently about?
Please tell me if I'm wrong.

Tony.

Hi Tony, yes, I think I should have stated those parts are all slated for an existing, in progress project such as the school race car. They've been purpose bought not just something squirrelled away. For example my edelbrock tunnel ram, dual qual with carbs is for my 57 chev's 462 cu in engine. The six two barrel Offenhauser may make it onto the race car after the kids are done. It's against the rules right now. I've a hillborn mechanical fuel injection complete system for the other BBC which also may get swapped into the school car. Plus all the parts for the kids to build another 28 model A but old style, we're looking for a good ford or mercury flathead for it. Usually if I dismantle something and someone needs it I give it away. I've given some young guys around here complete running cars which I've traded for whatever because they'd never be able to find, let alone buy, the same thing. But they have to stay in school and graduate. It's worked so far, got one guy at unni taking engineering and one's an aircraft machinist.
I was a bad boy so maybe I can buy my way into the beyond!! JIM

In that case my mate Bless you too. I just don't see the point in keeping something that you are not using is all. I recently sold an item which, if I'd had the time and space, I could have made an exceptional item out of, but I couldn't so I sold it on to a "man who can", and soon we'll see the results.

Tony.

ps. If you can't buy yourself onto the beyond, you can come and live at our house.

I promised Dad I'd be good and try to stay on task and haven't had the dreaded time out for a while now but you know I'm at that rebellious age now and may occasionally challenge the old boy!! I read in the books he gave me when we had the sex talk that because of changes to my body that revolting against convention could occur but should pass. JIM

The Cibbie Oscars have gone to a chap I met at a show 3yrs ago, he has a immaculate 75 mk1 escort Mexico in yellow/ black roof, says he will send pictures. Luke 3 point no good to him, he won't drill holes to mount them, (that's someone who is so dedicated, bet his misses hates the car) but will contact some friends for me, gave him home made pottie and map wheel along with smiths stop watch set and mounts, probably worth more than the spots. Good job you lot pushed me cos while up in loft found some old photo's and found camera lead which will help me upload group photo's of last w/end. :thankyou:
