Well, just to answer Jim's question, the Germans kept us busy during most of that period.

Frankie, is there an internal seal on your antenna, it looks like a black rubber top hat about an inch in diameter and two inches tall, if this missing water will get into the boot.

The cover I use is an old school type: some sort of natural textile , like the military tent type. It's soft enough to not scratch the paint and very dense to keep the sun away. When it's wet, is waterproof and when is dry , breaths.
It has more than 30 years and it's in good shape , despite the fact that my father has marked his own registration , with paint, long time ago and young people don't recognize this old registration anymore.......:D
Unfortunately my recommendation is useless as I don't know if this fabric is in production nowadays.......:(

I saw that when I replaced the grommet that goes through the body of the car. It was in good condition. Frankie

Ah! I misunderstood the issue, thought the car was wet with soaked bodywork?

There has to be moisture in there some where to make the boot lid "sweat"
