Could be all the vertical ones are wrong!no kitchen door handles, there all vertical except one, its horizontal.and its still like it.

its ok though, im currently painting them with car body paint,(rattle cans, its working great) i will finally correct the one that is wrong (been wrong for about 6 years and no one has noticed)
bought a new door for the downstairs loo, so that it would match the rest of the downstairs doors.
Stood it in the lobby next to the loo, ready to fit.
Six years later finally got round to fitting it only to find the one I'd bought was three inches too wide!
Still looking for the receipt!

I like to be consistent...........When I was in high school, I played in the band. The band always played at the football games on Sunday. During the football season, there was, once a year on Sunday, a change of time from Daylight Savings Time to Standard time. On the Saturday night before the time change, you had to remember to change your clock back one hour. I, forgetting to do this Freshman year, showed up at the school and hour early. Now you'd think that I'd remember and learned my lesson, but nooooooooo. The next year I did the same thing. And even worse, I did it EVERY YEAR and was glad when Senior year was finished so as not to have yet another year of being such a MORON. OH, WELL......................... FrankieIts all trial and error @Rha you where nearly right and for a first attempt you did great.Us men never read instructions its our nature.
I'd blame the Mrs for hiding the parts
I confess Frankie, me too in 2014 after the clocks were changed, I sat In my car in the work car park waiting for the cleaner to arrive and unlock the front door. DOH !!

Bought a new alarm clock few years ago Tony, all singing all dancing puts itself right by Greenwich time signal, so first year in use when clocks whent forward it went off and woke me up, I jumped up got dressed no wash no shave boots undone unpressed uniform shirt got as far as the front door and she shouts " if you go now you'll be an hr early" I replied " no I won't I'm gonna be a hr late, I forgot to put the clock an hr forward" she says " what that new clock of yours"
I've noticed that whenever I do anything, Sandy reads the destructions and then tells me how to do it. I find this infuriating, not because she is usually right, but because she's bothered to read the destructions. It's a man thing!!!

When all else fails.............................read the manual
This is something I learnt as an engineering student many years ago. It is a recognised problem and even has its own name. Allen's axiom - If all else fails, read the instructions!
By inference, it's ok, even mandatory to try things several times and fail before looking for the right way to do it.
Absolutely Mike, when I put something together and Shirl says "Have you read the instructions", I say "No that's just to check if you've done it right afterwards". But boy you better be right.

Say yes, with crossed fingers behind your back it don't count as a fib. If it's wrong blame the instructions.
You tend to find now most instructions are in really bad english and its harder to understand the instructions than work it out !
You have to love the little picture guides you get with crosses and ticks in the boxes.
It seems common now to get the really poor instructions with the most complicated of items..

It often occurs that items made in China have instructions in English that are written improperly. The idea of the instruction might be basically correct but they are not phrased in a way we would normally speak them so they must be read several times to understand what they're trying to tell you. Frankie
