This more or less follows on from the limit thread .How do you rate yourself as a driver,on a scale of 1-10 ?
1being unable to drive and 10 being the best driver in th world .I think I know a driver that is a 9 and I'd like to think I'm a 5 .how do you rate yourself ?

Honestly I think I'd be in the 3-4 group Hugh. Although when I was 18-19 years old I was definitely a 10. That was until I hit a 10" kerb in a Mini on 10" wheels when I was at college.=)) I'd been 18 for 2 week and failed the breath test.:(:(:( A lesson learned the hard way but no one got hurt, which was the best thing.;)

It depends on what I'm driving and how fast Hugh. I drive a 65ft wagon and drag for a living which is longer than your artic and often puts you to the limits of your capabilities when in tight spots etc so on that score I'd say I am an OK driver. As a car driver I'd say middle of the road (4-5) but when driving a speed I'd say that slips down a (3-4). Your not as safe at speed fact!

If you compare me with Tikka Biriani, that famous Indian F1 star I guess I'm pretty sh***, but compared with Reginald Molehusband I'm pretty damn good =))

Seriously though, I rely on keeping my license and try to drive within the current laws of the land. I drive to the speed limits and don't drive like a dick.

I reckon I'm a good average so 4-5 I'd say

That's why we get on,I used drive a wagon and drag, with straw in the summer ,from all over the place ,the other side of Peterborough on the levels ,Bedford ,Newbury even as. Far as Sheffield with an old DAF that you had to double clutch,no M54 then A5 all the way lol.In the off season I'd drive live lambs in an artic to the abattoir in Kent ,Exeter and the Midlands. That was a Horrible ,dirty, smelly, sweaty job.

Shoot me down in flames but I would disagree .i think I'm a better driver when I'm driving briskly ,I'm more aware of everything ,I don't get distracted or complacent that's not driving at the" limit"mind you

If I have not jinxed the full no claims bonus by replying I would say a cheeky 4/5 with rapid descention to an awkward 2 in the blink of an eye.

I will rate myself around 5/6, cos my friends are always a bit nervous when I'm at the wheel. I follow the speed limits, but like to reach the speed limit as quick as possible and tend to abide by the same speed limit even at roundabouts;)

If you take in consideration traffic accidents/ incidents/ risks I would say I'm over 5. I drive very defensive and try to escape rapid from what I smell as a "confuse traffic situation". I like to follow the rules, but keep my eyes wide open on the traffic partners. When I speed over (next to my limits), I'm always alone in the car and on the street/ road. I avoided many accidents, driving from trucks to company cars, but with the age I feel the control it's not the same...and I take more reserves.
I think that is very important to adapt always your capabilities with the car's performances. Some people can drive a 30 HP car much better than a 400 HP! Matter of fact most of the peoples! As long you keep staying in your shoes and you synchronize your limits with the car's limits is ok.

You need to take into consideration the other muppets on the road.. Like the ones who cut the apex of the bend and don't look how far over they are.. I had a personal experience of such.. which wrote off my beloved 'FLN' last year. Not a happy day.. and I could not prove I did not move from the junction even though the damage of the cars was in my favour. Her front headlight was not damaged.. only the front side wing by the wheel. She connected with my BMW around the front badge area and totalled the front. The drivers side headlight was intact.. If I had pulled out.. then she would have smashed the headlight and I would have damaged the front of her car.. Now the rub.. She was the local GP and knew the Traffic Officer who was dealing at the scene.. Not a good day.. 45 minutes chatting with her then he gave me 5 minute blocking until I started my answer.. Calling over a local policeman and asking him to write in his pocket book in detail all I was about to ask the officer.. The local policeman was taken aback.. First question, Do you personally know the driver of the other vehicle ? .. response.. errrr.. shall we say its no bodies fault.. and let the insurance companies decide ? Oh so you are not considering me for dangerous driving as per you comment a moment ago. No.. Thank you. He then asked.. are you in the force ? now why would you ask that question ? Rumbled... The local officer just could not control himself. After the traffic officer left.. he had a very nice chat and whenI told him. what I did he could not stop laughing. one up on the traffic. But I was well p***** off.

So moral of the story.. watch at junctions as it might not be your car thats the issue. RIP 'FLN" mind you the replacement is great too.

I would have to say a 10, only because you didn't allow 11's
Now wake up and get your face out of your porridge young Edward!:ymdevil:=))=))
