Are you going electric mate, I'm going with the block and tackle set up, just need to take a look in my garage to see if I have the heightThanks Guys will look into making one i'm sure i can make something to do the job with ease
Yeah think so there are loads of winches second hand may give alittle more control.
Going to get some 22mm ally bar and add eye bolts. Work out what length strappings i need and experiment

The garage roof has 9inch beams and storage above is all good add me up there at 90kg and its goodJust gotta make sure what you attach it to, and what you attach it with can take 45kg+winch
40mm box section steel to mount the winch it will be fine
Mine is chained around the one of the garage beams and has been fine so far.
I'm glad that I am satisfied with my manual hood in all weathers

I agreed to buy that but asked for it to be shipped at my cost and never got a reply even after agreeing to pay the price asked, thanks anyway i have nearly all my kit together to make one now so will get on it, Will have made it to the same effect for half the cost with an electric hoist so no loss.
Reviving an old thread. This has inspired me to build and parts ordered! Can I ask how you've securely connected the pulley to the joist? More detailed photos of the setup would be amazing (and help!).
