I spent the best part of St Valentine's Day in the bedroom, scraping old plaster off the wall, and then putting new plaster back on. Jill spent the day in final rehearsals for our village panto which starts tomorrow night.
We're relaxing at the moment watching Midsommer Murders
We don't buy each other little presents now, but I have been known to show the odd "romantic" gesture
Many years ago, well about 25, we had a young family, only me in full time work and to be honest, we were pretty skint.
It was Jill's birthday and I didn't have any spare cash to buy a pressy,
I wrote a cheque "To Jill Oakley, Pay 1million kisses"
I put it in an envelope with a birthday card. When she opened it she burst out crying and gave me the biggest hug ever.
She always said she was going to frame it and put it on the wall, but decided it was special to us and so it's kept in our wedding album along with our marriage certificate
