Frankie, don't need to tell you how envious I am. Wish we could have hooked up but family comes before pleasure (although killing off the kid did come into play for a fleeting second or two). Take lots of pics, you know the kind I like. 10-9-8-7-6-5-JIM

If you've never seen it London is very cool and you're day will flash by. So many things to see and do.

I agree with Rev it's like going to the US and not seeing New York when you had the chance.

You could always call into BMW Park Lane right in the centre the Classic showroom is at Battersea.

Got to see Buck House and the Parks and the view from he Millenium Wheel is great as well

Where the hell have you been. I haven't see you on the forum in a While. Then I saw some pictures you posted yum!!! Was getting ready to pm you to see if you are all right. Got to go now . Frankie

Checked to see if passport was coming and it wasn't, so upgraded to expedite and it should get here on time (God, I hope!). I'll finish doing the badges today and look into renting a car online. I spoke to the fellow who sold me the gps. He went to Ireland and only used it for a week. I talked to him for a while about driving on the wrong, I mean "other" side of the road and he said he made out ok with it. More later.
 
I drove on the wrong side in Florida Frankie, you will soon adapt I'm sure.:) Only difference is that the roads aren't as wide over here...... but neither are the cars.

About 8 years ago I was over in Italy and Austria to visit relatives and I noticed that. There's no shoulder to the road. You go off the road for any reason and you're on grass or whatever's there. As you know, most roads here have a paved or gravel shoulder which is a great safety asset. You have to change a tire, your jack isn't sinking into the dirt or mud. You have to get under your suv or truck, you don't have ants crawling all over you.
Over here, there was once a fire at a club called the Coconut Grove. Several hundred people were inside. Everyone was trying desperately to get out of the building and the first people at the exit doors couldn't open them because they opened inwards and with all the people pushing behind them, they couldn't pull the doors inwards and a few hundred people died needlessly. Because of this incident and a few others like it, fire codes mandated all exit doors must open to the outside. As a result, whenever you are going into or leaving a building here, the doors always open to the outside. While traveling on the Autostrassa in Austria, I stopped at a rest stop to use the restroom and get coffee. It was about a few minutes after 9 in the morning. I went up to the entrance but couldn't open the door. I thought this was unusual because they should have been open at that time. I stood off to the side a moment to think of what I was going to do and someone came walking out from the inside pulling the doors inward. I was so used to the doors going the other way, I never thought of trying to push in.
While driving on the Autostrada in Italy, I stopped for coffee. I was at a small bar that had about 6 or 7 stools in front of it. There were 3 or 4 people already there. I just said "coffee" to the waitress. She brought this little dinky cup that was only half full. I figured that they were playing a joke on me. Maybe they could see I was a foreigner. I tried to look to either side of me without turning my head to make it obvious to see if people were watching me for my reaction, perhaps getting ready to laugh at me, but everyone was just minding their own business. So I drank the coffee very slowly. I soon began to realize that this was the normal serving. It was very strong, but very satisfying. I thought "what a dope I am. Live and learn". Frankie
 
I did wonder what had inspired the doors to open to the outside Frankie, I could never have thought of the real reason, what an eye opener !! But they are appearing over in the UK at such places as Maccy D's and my favourite KFC too.:)
 
First thing I do after baggage in Holland or Germany is a coffee. Love it, and cleans me right out. Also can't sleep for a few days!! JIM
 
Sat Nav's a must Frankie, but always check a map as well as they don't always take you the best route!

You'll certainly see some narrow roads here. And some bumpy ones in Lincolnshire.

Don't worry Frankie untill you're under the guardianship of Zorg members you will safely be on roads with white lines, after that just keep up with the Z in front!
Once when we went to Orlando, 2 families each had a Misubishi Mirage ( yukk), anyway what I did was to buy 2 stickers of the old rebel flag ( the first things that came to hand ) and I put one on the back of our car and one on the front of our friends car. They could see us up front and we could see if they were behind us. Kind of worked ok.;)
 
When I arrive in the UK, I will buy a sim card for an unlocked cell phone that I have. This will give me a phone number for that phone. I don't want to list this number openly on the forum since viewers other than forum members will have access to it. I have contacted 4 forum members who have agreed for me to PM to them this number so that any forum member who wishes it has only to PM them for it. (I almost forgot to tell you who they are) They are Miller 1098, GazHyde, t-tony and Hard Top. Frankie

T-tony, you just lucked out!! Every vehicle has those flags front and back, it's law. Surprised the rentals didn't have them already, must have been from UP NORTH!!
