A valid point. Maybe I'll start working on the Mrs. about that. I'm looking at the Magnaflow cat back kit. I don't want loud, don't want an annoying drone on the highway, but I'd like a bit more throaty growl. Vids I've listened to sound like what I'm looking for. Plus it's all SS and lighter than the factory exhaust.
Mine has a magnaflow back box.
It’s very loud and has a nasty drone. It’s hard to work out the best way to avoid the drone, be it speed or rev range.
People do turn heads though when I’m approaching.
I might swap for a quieter back box soon as the drone is annoying

Really thinking about an Eisenmann Exhaust. Thinking about the race variant as the "sport" seems a little underwhelming for my taste.

I have seen some YouTube videos with varying differing results. One I has seen on a 2.8i coupe with middlebox delete was beyond tolerable and also one without the middlebox delete which was far more reasonable.

Worried about drone as well...

Any thoughts on Eisenmann Race variant and if the middlebox delete is causing the ear destruction. - These videos would allude this.

Reasonable Sounds

Reasonable Eisenmann 'Race' Exhaust - Sounds pretty good without being too shouty

Crazy Race sounds:

Up the hill pull without middlebox - sounds great to be honest

Ludacris part 1 - Sounds a bit too much

Absolutely Bonkers - Can't be doing with this...

We got the catback system from Magnaflow installed last weekend. We filmed a lot of video ("we" being my son and I) for his friend who does some youtube stuff. I'll post a link when the edits are done.

Overall, extremely happy with the results. It's a hair louder, but more than anything it's lower pitched with more "growl". There's also some of what I call "burble" on deceleration. Not the obnoxious backfire/cackle like a "burble tune", but just a much, much softer version of that I guess. We called that a burble back in the day, but the term seems to have morphed a bit.

Installation went well. Removing the original exhaust was all smooth except for getting the exhaust hangers off. We bent the tool trying to get them off and had to go to the auto parts store for a new one. We then used some silicone spray to lube it up a bit and finally got them off. Everything else went like clockwork. We followed the instructions and installed everything without tightening the bolts, then tweaked the alignment. It pretty much fell right into place. The tips were centered perfectly in the opening. Then we went back and started torquing to spec from front to rear. All stayed in place and we were done.

Also, the polished tips look amazing. They're slightly larger than stock and really gleam.

All in all, well worth the $$.....just need to figure out what to do with the old exhaust. I hate to toss it....only had 7k miles on it and looks practically new.

I must confess I've never been a big fan of exhaust noise.

I always liked the noise from the other end. A pair of twin webers at full throttle makes an unmistakable 'power' noise. Loud but totally different.

I'm with you on that one, I built this 3.5 with tripple webers (quite) a few years ago in a 2002 Touring and I've never had anything since that sounds nearly as good 😁

That's what I loved about the Ramair filter I had on my E85. Lovely induction growl.

Tony.
