Hope we don't get left behind for this one. I can't book any holidays for next year until January.
Book all your hotels on booking.com mate with no upfront payment an no cancellation fees. Worst case you can cancel everything with no expense to yourself.

Well if we are not happy with the Hotel I am sure we can discuss openly and change to a different one. Seems ok though 1 bad revue does not make it bad, could be sour grapes or another hotel nearby.

For the sake of one night Paul and at the price it is I am personally not bothered. It's not like we're stuck there for 2 weeks.

@Grumpy It was just if it put people off.. lol.. I have stayed in some right places doing my work..

I'm guessing that there's a member on here somewhere near Folkstone, just go there and pretend you're a potential guest. Then, ask to see the room(s) this is very common practice in the states and from what I hear becoming more popular over here too. At least you'll get a 1st hand view of it. Bound to be fairly busy late on due to the location?

Tony.

I do indeed think we have a member that way.. @Dino D do you ever get to Folkestone ?

Mr Top, your a wealth of knowledge lol! I personally don't really care for one night and £50. If people want to spend the extra £50 to switch to holiday Inn I totally understand but I'll stay put for one night.

We'll probably find the other guests are all Immigrants, you there yet HT., but it will do for one night, English Hotels are terribly overpriced.

Mike

I've never found a Dutch hotel or B&B to be anything but perfect although some are charmingly worn. And we were always given a tour of the room before we accepted. English was never a problem anywhere even in the smallest towns. JMHO. JIM

I shall personally make sure that Booking .com will soon hear about it, if it turns out to be as HT's said, especially as I was the one who found it at 11.45pm last night!!!!

Mike, one of the reviews mentioned that you were better off staying at the hotel next door, might be worth checking on?

I thought the 'Hotel' next door was the Police Station! HT ;) On well at least there will be plenty of parking there!!!:D

Room dirty, very dated, shower room smelly, very loud sanni loo. Told receptionist and her attitude stank ! As if she couldn't care less will never stay again I recommend the south cliff hotel next door!

You coming to stop over here with us h/t?

We just booked too. Another option would be to find a hotel the other side of the channel and kip down after we cross over on the Friday??

We could all sleep in our zeds and go to Tesco for breakfast. Really cheap.:)

The Hotel is being refurbished especially for us, HT! Lol:thumbsup:
Found this review amongst the awful ones!!

Visited The Carlton on an overnight stop coming back from a day trip to France.
Must say we were very happy with the service.
The chap on reception was very polite continually referring to my wife as "ma'am" which I thought was lovely.
The decor looks as though there has been a recent refurb.
The rooms as mentioned in previous reviews are quite small and I must say we had the smallest tv in our room I have ever seen in a hotel room though wasn't really a problem.
Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable.
Breakfast was a full English with a choice of toast, cereal, jams, juices tea and coffee.
Nicely cooked breakfast served quickly and was hot.
All this for the princely sum total of £40.
If you want the Ritz then this ain't for you.
If you want a decent hotel at a very reasonable price then try The Carlton.

Stayed October 2015

As it's only for one night I think it will be fine.
