Hello folks, been a bit busy but back on track...

Right @Stormy_be has a great hotel at 120 euros a night but depending upon number of rooms we could get a discount. I am thinking of staying at the same hotel on the Saturday and Sunday so it is an easy day after the tour around with the Dutch @DutchScorpion run.

As for the tunnel, it's getting annoying chasing the same group of people. So much for customer service. If after Monday I will be suggesting we just agree a time and all book as best we can.

So any other questions and I will update the numbers on Sunday.

Quite happy to stay in the same hotel @pgunter. Does save on living out a suit case. €120 seems reasonable enough to me so all good here. Us and the mints are intending on running down to the tunnel together so we can book it at the same time if the discount thing doesn't pull off.
 
Do we know what town we will be staying around. Is it Slenaeken ? Also what is the Hotel called that Stormyb has found ?
 
Is it Best Western Hotel Slenaken?
This is just a few hundred meters from the startpoint
 
@billz still looking at several hotels. Also a Holiday Inn is not far either.

If it is Slenaeken then i may book mine as i have found a really nice looking Hotel on Booking.com and it has a Balcony. Mind i am still waiting to find out if Kim can get the time off work
 
Me and Mrs. zedwheels are interested in joining in if that's ok? What are the details is it drive to Dover on the 25th
and drive the same day to Slenaken for overnight stay's to cover 26th, 27th and leave to travel back on the 28th?
ie. two nights accommodation?

Ourselves and the mints are driving down to the tunnel on the Friday, staying in premier in or similar, tunnel Saturday morning and drive down to Slenaken, two nights there and travel back up on the Monday, undecided but stay near the tunnel one side or the other arriving home on the Tuesday. 4 nights hotels in total.

Just read through all 10 pages of this post. Can you give me the details of everything? What possible side trips are there after the Dutch run? If I work on it, perhaps the wife and I could make it. I need all the particulars as she would have to schedule vacation time off and I would have to start thinking about booking flights, hotels and tunnel crossings. Mind you, its just a thought right now, but this is how things get started. Frankie

OK Folks,

Update regarding the Crossing.

I have had a long chat with the staff at Euro Tunnel and they are going to work with us on this one. I am looking at out on the 25th about 09:00 onwards returning on 28th from about 13:00 onwards --- They will be able to give us a group price per vehicle hopefully this week. Due to certain issues they are running behind on bookings. I have been asked if I do not hear from them by Friday to chase again.

Hotel wise, I note that @billz has booked. I have looked at a few around the area and have also booked into the same hotel at a very good price of £131 for the Saturday and the Sunday night. I would recommend that you have a look on booking.com and look the map for this and other hotels around Slenaeken. I am thinking that on the Monday evening the Hotel that was recommended by @Stormy_be might be a good idea. Thoughts as ever please.

I will keep the pressure up on the Euro Tunnel guys too. At present the lady was saying the best option is the 5 day short stay.

@FRANKIE it would be great to see you again. The Trip is as follows.

Saturday, meet early and get a morning crossing, then onwards to Slenaeken for the Saturday and Sunday night. The Sunday being the main day of fun around the northern part of Euro with @DutchScorpion and his fellow Zeds. On the Monday @Stormy_be has the great idea of running us back through the good countryside to see the last post at the Menin Gate 8pm. Staying overnight before a morning drive back through to the Channel Tunnel and UK bound.

Phew.... right... into the bear pit...
