Well after the brake upgrade the next item on the list was to improve the cornering and general road holding. Enter the team from the Zed Shed South...

Mission... Eibach Springs and new front shocks.. Well Ebbee hit 88k this week and from the service history she has never had the front shocks changed. We did the rear shocks a few weeks ago. So, order placed with a company in Germany and... a few days later a lovely red box appeared with four very nice black springs inside.

As the team at the Zed Shed had all clubbed in for the important spring compressor, it should be no issue.. and with @Lee @GazHyde @Oldguysrule and myself.. it was smooth sailing.

A little side by side comparison Old v New front springs. Bare in mind that Ebbee already had the BMW Sports suspension.

Fully assembled with new shocks from GSF and new top mounts.

@Shortie_gal 's Vixen compared to Ebbee with her new shocks and springs.

After taking the zed out for a drive, I can honestly say that the expense has been worth it. She handles like a new car and sticks to the road amazingly well. My drive home off 30 miles from Hook after a lovely pizza seemed to read 51 miles for some reason... Top down and looking at the stars.. Thanks again to the Zed Shed Team.. we just love doing work on these cars..

Looks great Paul. I desperately need new shocks and springs. At 94k now and never had a set according to the service records. I wouldn't drop it thought due to lack of clearance with my front wheels. But more importantly you had pizza! :wideyed:

@Grumpy won't the zed shed Midlands do that in an hour ? We can down south :whistle:

Good work and a great looking car!

She does handle very nicely when i took her for a test drive :) paul handed me his keys as soon as i got home from work:D:coolsteer)

She looks much better too, cant wait for my h&r springs to arrive on Monday finally!!

I think the smiles on the faces of everyone who took it for a spin afterwards proved the point. Always a pleasure to work on a true enthusiasts Zed!

@GazHyde The work we have been doing on all our Zeds makes us all smile. But as you said, the smiles from the people who took Ebbee for a spin said it all. She handles so well now and made all the work very worth while.

Mine could do with sorting to has the rear end seams to high.
Paul. Ebbee looks lovely as she always does

I've got the springs sorted Steve, but thought that I may as well change the shocks whilst I'm at it, and then I suppose I may as well put 4 new discs and pads at the same time, oh and paint the calipers.

Looks great @pgunter , did you use standard shocks
Standard Boge/Sachs shocks off the shelf from GSF. Plenty of options though. Bilstein B4 are a direct alternative to standard, or their B6 which are designed for lowering. I'd personally go for the Sachs/Boge or the B4's. My Z4 is getting some B4's soon.

@Sean d I would say @GazHyde has answered the question. It is standard shocks and the springs from Eibach. Makes handling amazing.. does it not @BMBabe ... Ebbee loves the cornering now.

I agree... I left the original shocks on mine as the history said they were changed last year, fitted apex springs as I have used them before.. Replaced top mounts on rear shockers as they had been there for 17yr and fell apart... Then just replaced the main bushes in the rear axel and the ride is so much better
