Has anyone fitted a door projector to a Z3. I have seen the universal battery powered ones are pretty cheap and was thinking of getting a couple.

My 3 Series has puddle lights in the handles which are useful. But I don't think I'd want to go as far as beaming a BMW logo onto the deck (there is an option).

We did think about them for the Z , but we didn’t want to make holes for them in the door :)

You may find that there holes already there and possibly even wiring connections.

Tony..

I fitted some in my Z4, have a look in my build thread. I did fit BMW logo ones because I like them.

We’re already looked :)
We’re got nothing their , just one piece of metal going round the doors :)

They usually fit into the bottom of the door card, not the door itself.

Wow Tony , they are good ones , might take a look at them , thank you :)

Easy enough to wire up using some speaker cable.

I don't think the Z3 has existing lights in the door. I am hoping the battery operated ones that just stick on will fit. I have had a look and there seems to be space to stick the magnet that turns them on and off. As they are cheap I will probably get one and give it a go. I am thinking either the BMW or Batman logo

I’ll have another look tomorrow, to see if they will fit into the car door :)

Post some photos, so I can see what they look like please :)

I have ordered a pair of lights with the batman logo for £8.59. The price suggests quantity to me =)) I decided against a BMW logo so I can give them to someone with a vauxhall if they don't fit or I don't like them. I will post a picture when they arrive.

I'd be cool with the Batman logo :)

I fitted puddle lights with a BMW logo to my Z3 about 3 years ago. The lights I bought were round and I fitted them in place of the round blank in the bottom of the door. All was well for a while but then one of them blew. I couldn't get the round lights anymore so I bought the standard rectangular ones as fitted to the 3 & 5 series. Had to cut a rectangular hole but it was really no problem. I wired in footwell lights at the same time and connected to the interior light.
The worst part was getting the wiring through the hinge plug/block into the door.
I'll take some photos when I get the car out of the garage.

Don't forget the door is designed to flow water through the inside and drain out of the bottom.

You just need to heat shrink any connections.

Tony.

I expect these are the pieces that need cutting out :)
