Hi welcome from Oxfordshire. I like your subwoofer enclosure did you make that or have it made as there's a market for that. Can you tell me where you got the acs foglight rep holders from? It would be a shame to cover ACS roll hoops in leather though might as well sell them:whistle:Inalso like the blind spot sensors a nice touch.

I don't know how practical it is, but given the talent you've shown it would be quite interesting..... perhaps not something 'puffy' leather, but a flat sheet with chrome surounds?

Very interesting idea! I probably don't think it can be done at this point because we've already invested time and money into a gloss black sub enclosure to match the center console, but seeing as I'm Z addicted at this point, it's definitely an idea for another Z in the future... One I won't have to share with my Fiance :whistle:

We made the subwoofer enclosure from scratch. Admittedly, it was a looot of work and not something either of us are interested in doing again. I asked my Fiance where he sourced the ACS fog light replicas from, and he told me it was made by a guy from bimmerforums. Unfortunately, said person doesn't make them anymore -- we wanted hamann fog lights in case we get another Z, but no luck!

We're actually going to wrap the OEM roll bars in leather with white stitching and then try to see if we like the look of the ACS roll bars or the OEM ones wrapped in leather. No plans to sell the ACS ones, saving them in case we get another Z :)
 
Sooo a bit of bad news. Someone hit our car while it was parked and unfortunately we weren't insured yet. The bumper is damaged, so have to get a new one!

But here's an update on the other z3 I've been working on :). First time working with wood like this so I know it's not the prettiest work, but it just took a few hours out of my day and it was fun!

Too bad about the accident but the model sure looks great for a first attempt! Do you do a lot of woodworking? JIM

Thank you! I know it's not the best work but I'm happy with my first attempt :) And nope, I do esthetics (waxing, facials, manicures, pedicures, etc) for a living -- never worked with wood before! I just tend to enjoy DIY stuff, it's fun for me!

Definitely upsetting -- we just found it damaged on our driveway! Fortunately, we found a new ///M bumper, soo just have to find time to pop it on.

Cest la vie! We can't drive without insurance here in Canada either, but we haven't really been driving it more than around our street! We were planning on getting insurance and using it for longer distance driving after we finished the mods, as we figured it would be relatively safe on our driveway... I guess mistake made and lesson learned!

The car is back from the shop, yay! We had the windows tinted yesterday at the same shop, so scratch another mod off the list! We'll get started with other mods very soon!

Small updates!

Steering wheel is in! The only issue is that the turn signal lever/handle isn't working properly. For whatever reason, it's not going back to position after the steering wheel is returned to it's neutral position. I think it may be an issue with the clock spring. But if anyone has any ideas on how to help, I'd appreciate it!



Next up is the bluetooth speaker, which is now stealth in that little hole underneath the headlight switch. The little metal button underneath that is an auxiliary horn.


Then are the door panels which are now complete! Might add a little more stitching in the future but I like the design for now:


Finally the clip for the a-pillar was broken, soo unfortunately, had to drill it so it didn't stick out. Honestly, I think it looks fine! The black screw cap is where the a-pillar was drilled.

@DinaColada part of the slip ring / clock spring that's responsible for automatic cancelling of the indicators is likely broken. This is the part of the slip ring that usually breaks due to incorrect seating or damage when the wheel is removed

I believe @Davyhoogy had the same issue but was fixed after he replaced his slip ring.

As you can see above the bit that protrudes out of the steering wheel is usually what will break.

Yeah same thing most likely. I didn't know about the little plastic tab that sticks out and must have just laid the wheel on the ground and it snapped off. Either that or royals snapped it off when they returned the wheel.
 
Hey guys! So, we were considering selling the Z because of school debt. I was hoping you guys could give me an estimate of how much I should be looking to sell it for. I'm from Canada and I feel like car prices in general here are a lot more expensive than in the UK. I was thinking to sell it for around $15,000 CDN, but my Fiance says $19000 CDN.

I actually posted it for $19000 CDN just to get feedback, and I received a really rude message from someone who said that my car was "hardly custom", that I'm stupid and I should be looking to sell it for $10,000, but after all the work we put in, $10k just feels way too low.

You're right! I'll have to keep that in mind that some people are just mean spirited. Yup, I think it's best to wait... I think with all the work we did, $15k CDN is a very fair deal! The issue is I don't have patience when it comes to selling things!! Haha.

Ask a few car dealers - take an average of the three - then double the amount and try selling at that! Good luck!
 
Hi @DinaColada, knowing the Cdn prices people are selling for turns out to be nowhere near what they start out asking. That said for $1500 I could bring two z3's over from Britain which is what I did with my z3. But most people are to lazy to do that so you may be in luck because of that trait!! Good luck, JIM
