I just watched Ian's @Redline video and it prompted me to post this from last Wednesday morning. I had pulled out of our drive and turned left to Lincoln, a car had just appeared in view coming round the duel carriageway from Gainsborough way. I had pulled out and accelerated quite quickly up to 45 by the time I reached Little London gateway. The car behind me was not a VW CC and was not even close on my bumper indicating that the driver wasn't being held up, then this happened .........................

........... approaching a sharp bend inside a 50 MPH limit on a very frosty morning. By the time I got to Fenton's 40 MPH limit1 mile away the idiot was out of sight. I wonder how fast he went through their village.

Tony.

ps. That wasn't the only idiot I saw last week, that video is still uploading on YouTube.

I would've stopped, taken the camera off it's mount and videoed the idiot Dave, alas he kept it on the road. If you listen again you may just hear me mutter w******.

I see this sort of loonacy almost daily now. Driving standards have dropped massively over the years. I have an on board camera in the truck, if I hit the emergency button on the dash everytime I saw a pratt my boss would never get anything done as he'd have to watch all my video clips!

I meant to get a really good one for you for from last Monday. Southbound M1 at Jn 25 just as it goes from 4 to three lanes. Prat come haring down lane 4 at about 90, cuts in front of me and then between two big trucks with barely two cars length gap and then across the hatched lines after lane 1 had peeled off - all to get off the motorway. Didn't stop to think if there was anything on the inside of the trucks already on the slip road - If there had he would have been toast. The second truck driver must have kittens.I just hope he'd triggered the speed cams earlier - but then they probably don't care.

Whenever I see one of these twits overtaking me at an inopportune moment, I say to Sandy "My hero". Had one the other day, traveling along behind several slower vehicles a "Hero" overtook me and several others coming up towards a blind corner. The cars ahead were beginning to slow down to go round the corner so were quite close to each other when a car appeared traveling in the opposite direction. "My Hero squeezed in between two cars and caused all behind to brake sharply. I was not traveling to close to the car in front so did not cause me any concern.

Yep it's a common one Ian. It's fine till he kills him/herself or worse still kills someone else then it's suddenly a big issue. Truck drivers get a hard rap when involved in an accident. It's guilty until proven innocent. There are plenty of idiots about but car drivers don't look at the bigger picture. We don't have the braking capacity or manoeuvrbility of a car. If I could get off the road today I would but until the time is right I'm stuck with it, gambling with life on a daily basis.

People don't understand trucks, when I saw them indicating to pull out of their lane on the motorway, I would sign with my lights and let them do so.

Plenty out there upside down in ditches or worse that don't heed the weather conditions/environment and drive accordingly.

I am amazed at the number of car drivers who take risks with something twenty times the weight of their own car. The margins between driving away and oblivion if you get it wrong are tiny.
Having said that - I was tail gated through the road works by a truck who clearly thought the limit that everybody was sticking too didn't apply to him. At one point I could see nothing but his rad.
All you can do is drive defensively.

Don't get me wrong Ian, a lot of lorry drivers use the size and weight to bully car drivers, that is equally as bad as poor car drivers assuming we will stop on a tuppence for them when they happily pull in front of you and remove your braking distance in the blink of an eye! It's never gonna be a match made in heaven I'm afraid! I'm the driver trainer at our yard and some of the new drivers scare me witless driving far to close to the car in front. I give them 3 strikes, if I have to tell them a 3rd time to back off I tell them to pull over and I take over. It kills people, simple!!

The question is, how do you stop it all. The police aren't interested unless there's an accident and even then only if there's injury or the road is blocked. The police just quote that speed is the problem. It isn't speed but bad driving with inappropriate use of speed. That and just plain moronic driving. Everybody had to be there yesterday. People being forced to drive further and further to work. Companies allowed to close offices and factories forcing cost and inconvenience on to the individual and state. Come the glorious revolution.......=))

How can you know your drivers behave after you have got out the cab? Impossible isn't it.

When drivers get prosecuted they get let off because they will lose their livelihood. Sorry - should think about that in the drivers seat not later in court. Putting a few on the dole queue is well worth the price of saving others.

I do a fair bit of driving around the UK and I can agree, driving standards have dropped and so is a little thing called manners. Sad really that you can not allow a fellow driver some space as a t***t will cut you up to grab that little bit of Tarmac you left as a breaking zone.

I agree Paul ,but that's nothing new. I also think that lorry driving standards have fallen with more foreign drivers bringing their bad habits over here, because people are no different from any other animal, they learn by example.
