Came across this, looks like BMW factory part.
Anyone tried it, looks plug and play but not sure whey the say you need to specify black or beige interior- doesn't this go in the fuse box?

Site says:

'Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are currently standard equipment on most BMWs around the world. This was not the case for the US-spec Z3s (and other US E36 cars). DRLs offer an additional measure of safety: when the car is running, the DRL module will turn on the high beam headlights at 80% of their full intensity. This makes your car more visible, even during daylight hours, to both other cars and pedestrians. The DRL module will not turn on the tail lights or the interior lights. It will allow you to run the parking and/or fog lights while still running the high beams at 80%. But as soon as you turn the headlights on, the DRL module will turn off the high beams and return high beam control to the stalk on the steering wheel. Installation is simple... the DRL module replaces the stock high beam headlight relay located in the driver's footwell. Our kit includes detailed instructions as well as certain one-use-only interior trim pieces. Fits all Z3/M roadsters and coupes.

Specify black or beige interior trim when ordering

Note: Some model year 2000 Z3's will have the Airbag Warning Light come on when the DRL Module is installed. This only occurs on the 2000 cars and I am not sure if it is every car or just some. If you own a 2000 year, you may get an airbag warning light when the DRL Module is installed.'

I think the colour thing is just because of the leather site, I see it's a dealer part. Pricey at over £100 though.
Cheaper to put my lights on!
Do like it though along with the US style amber indicators that run half lit.

I have one of these for sale if anyone wants it, I bought it a while back and never fitted it.

I asked a question about installing OEM relay in a thread a couple of years ago. I was told that on older models you had to do a wiring mod in the base of the fuse box so I never pursued it . Can't find the thread at the moment.

Thanks for that, now I remember this vaguely and the reason for not persuibg. For a 98 2.8 too much effort, will keep using the light switch me thinks.
Might be plug and play for a facelift though.

I found this module on eBay for about $75 and bought it for my 2001 z3 3.0. It took me a little to get everything taken out to access the drivers foot well. I removed the existing high beam relay & plugged this baby in. It worked ! Pug and play.

Hey folks,

Going to revive this thread. Imported a 2000 z3 to Canada from the US this week. Need to install the DRL module.

Anyone have a link to where I can buy one nowadays.. Seems like all the old sellers don't have them anymore. Thinking I can go to a scrap yard in Canada and find any e36 era BMW that I can pull the module out of?

Thanks
