David's 3.0si Sport Z4 Roadster

As I mentioned on chat earlier the Z4 doesn't seem to need a hard top as much as the Z3 does (although personally went for 6 years without). But it's good you have one if you want one!

Took the hardtop to a friend of mine, and finally got it resprayed from Imola Red to Sapphire Black, and boy does it look good!

(Sticker came with the HT :bag: )

I also asked for some interior trim bits to be painted at the same time, to match. I will upload pics when I've reinstalled. Very happy David

Next on the to do list is a suspension refresh. Not quite sure of the route I'm going down yet. Also, need to install one of @t-tony's stickers

Liking the hard top David, it's on my list!:)

Tony.

Never seen a Z4 with a hard top except in photo's. Are they quite rare ? How does the prices compare with Z3 hard top ? Also, do Z4's come with built in fitting kits ?

Hi Garry, my spec sheet says hard top preparation kit. If you remove some plastic plugs at the sides there the sockets for the pegs to fit in. Usually available on eBay, prices vary but mainly less than a Z3 + fitting kit. I'm going to get one for sure.

Like @t-tony said, I think all Z4's come with the fitting kit (Sorry @Lee - not yours!).
But the Z4 hardtops are really starting to creep up in price, so the total price isn't that dissimilar.

@Jack Ratt - If you are coming to @pgunter's Xmas New Forest meet, you will see mine for sure.

A well overdue update here...

I stumbled across a for sale thread for an aFe cold air intake kit on the Z4Forum, shortly after being listed and for the price, simply couldn't say no!

Fitting the kit was fairly straight forward...

First I removed the OEM airbox, and intake pipework:

Next I removed the MAF from the OEM box, and made a thin gasket for it, to fit to the new pipework:

Next job was to fit the included breather filter:
This part is just bling, because as far as I'm aware, this is only connected to the sound generator.

Then it was simply a case of fitting the pipes, whilst stemming the blood-flow from my knuckles:

And finally, fit the Filter and the lid of the heat-shield:

The new noise is intoxicating to say the least!

Unfortunately, I'm certain I have lost a few MPG and that's not just due to me pressing the loud pedal harder.

...Still, it sounds great, and I'm happy!
