Of all the pieces of equipment that are found in garages, workshops etc which would you think was more "scary" than the rest?
002.jpg

The hydraulic coil spring compressor. ( I had a front spring off a P.205 hit me in the face once OUCH !!)

005.jpg

Brake rollers, yeah they have covers............ but they're so heavy no one replaces them, unless the car going on the ramp is so low that you would bottom out the car OR rip off your ACS style front splitters(oops)

003.jpg

Mig welder, Oxy/Acetylene bottles, AC re-gas machine and even a jump battery.

004.jpg

The floor mounted 30 ton press, another piece of equipment with the ability to throw items across the work place if you're not careful.

So which of these do you think is the most "Scary" item that people give a wide berth to at our place? OR is there something else?

Tony.

ps. You might be surprised

Of the items I could see in your first pic Tony, I would be most afraid of the BROOM, not because I hate to sweep up but because I've heard people to say they could allso have one of these items shoved up their rear end and sweep the floor as well. Not a clue what that means but sounds quite frightening.

The spring compressor can give you a bit of a thump, especially if it goes while you're actually compressing the spring.
Have seen people fall into garage pits too.

If these equipments are not used correctly, then the most dangerous thing is the "tool" using them :rolleyes:

The on-lookers! But really they are all dangerous if not maintained and managed properly!

Only if it's inserted whilst doing another job Dave as in "If you shove the brush up my a**e, I'll sweep the floor while I'm at it!"

Tony.

ps. Yes it was a bit of a mess the day I took the pictures but when the wind blows we get all the Maccy D's rubbish and KFC cartons and beer cans that the students next door throw over the wall, sometimes bottles too.

I would say the brake rollers due to it being a trip hazard.

Have to agree Bill but they each have their own hazards.

Tony.

I find the most dangerous tool in my shop is me! I've learned over the years that if I start to feel tired I'm too late already and lock up for a while, but then again I don't make a living doing mechanics and anyone that has a vehicle over for repairs knows my rule and judges accordingly whether or not they can live with it or not. I like @Lee don't charge for labour. JIM

What a serious bunch of guys we are....no one answers to the question!:whistle:
So I'll do the work:
from your workshop :
- I take the spring compressor;
- I assume the others ''visitors'' will consider the welding equip;
in my garage is the hydraulic jack that i consider the most dangerous equip!:)
