Thanks Dino. That has put my mind at rest. I had pretty much shelved the 10j rears project and when I saw this by accident and started the mind over.

Makes sense that they are not rondells. The effective outer spec of 10.5j et18 just didn't compute.

Any ideas what they are or even the specs at all?
I believe these wheels may have come off @Steve Medlock Fiji green car - May be wrong.

No idea of brand. I don’t think you need to be rolling arches to get a wide look on these cars, especially on the MK1 ‘wide body’ which is slightly wider than the facelift.
The Beyerns I ran were I think 9,5j and took a 12mm spacer and never rubbed. Perhaps some cray low offset wheels would need it but there are plenty of choices - just some crazy prices for things like Rondell!

Just a point to make, if you roll your arches you will compramise the paint protection for the whole of the arch as it will crack it through to bare metal
Not looking to roll the arches if possible. I've had a look at it and it's not just the paint but the rust i'm worried about.

The rear can certainly take a wide rear rim with the offset being critical, the reason the 0058 plan was shelved. The best reference car i had knowledge of is @Antm72 car which had 9.5j et 33 ac schnitzel 5 spokes. To compare the 0058, it would sit 20mm further out with the same inward position, give or take a few mm.

i think i'm going to make a mock up wheel out of cardboard and see where it would sit on my car.

I am limiting myself in a big big way by looking for exclusively 17" wheels, i've ran 18" and i didnt like it with a low car. Limits things considerably. Just personal taste however i do see myself giving in at some point.

I’ve done the same - had 18’s and now 17’s.
Love the rondells but for me it is the front that put me off- how to make 5 series offsets work on the front...?

Didn’t stop me picking up a set of very tatty e39 17in style 32 in 9,5 and 8,5j a couple years back quite cheap. They need a serious refurb though.

Even with the e39 offsets the rears are easy and can take about 15-20mm spacing still. It is the fronts that poke and I already have 1,5 deg negative camber and as low as I want to go. Don’t want to run very narrow front tyres (ie 195 or 205) and big camber/extra low ride to tuck them in. Need to see if a 215 tyre and a little more camber will do it, maybe 2deg could just be enough.

As always we have similar taste Dino.

Rondell make a 0058 17x8 et35. Perfect. This is also a direct fit without spigots. 8.5j et13 will fit on the rear but will make the car look a bit bambi legged with so much of the thinish wheel on the outside. Would sit just about flush though. Not sure if an oversize tyre would quite make up for the loss of wheel on the inside.

I've been looking at the style 32 options. It's nice but not quite hitting the ultimate wheel spot. Although, in reality-land they are probably higher up the list than I'd wish.
I think there is a style 32 17x8 et34 out there. Still a little bit of dish to match the rear. I wasn't aware there was a 9.5j x17 style 32 available, only a 17x 9j et26. Are you aware of the 9.5j offset?

I like the cades wheels. Some good size options too. It's a classic wheel style and with the right fitment looks great on lots of cars.
Herr are the wheels in question.
