I have a 2001 M Roadster. I need to depress the clutch all the way to the firewall to change gears, and when I begin to let the clutch out, the point of engagement is just barely off the floor. Is this an indication of wear or an adjustment? Thanks in advance!

I have the same issue with my 2000 Z3 non M. The engagement varies from floor to about midway. I rebuilt the tyranny as there was a small leak and found out it was low on fluid, the wrong fluid and needed new seals. However, that doesn't address the issue.

The rubber clutch line from the hard line to the slave cylinder is a common problem. It starts to balloon under pressure and causes the engagement point to hit the floor. If you change it, a standard rubber hose will last you another 15 years or you could consider going to a stainless steel flexible hose.

Thank you so much!
