I'm assuming it'd be near Aylesbury? I'm off work that day but it's my last day off before going back to work through Christmas (including Christmas day :( ). Stick me down as a maybe and I'll try and get a pass from SHMBO.
Your working Christmas day! :wideyed:

My ex works during the week and every other weekend, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day and other public holidays.
I then went and worked abroad for 5 years.
It became like two strangers sharing a house.

I find it totally s*** that people have to open Christmas day to line there pockets. Pure greed, at the expense of the poor staff. Tell him to shove it up his arse Shelly!

Depends how good your year has been profit wise.
My mates wine spirits & beer emporium will be open 7 days a week (normally closed Sunday/Monday) in the three weeks running up to Christmas but he will be closed on Christmas and Boxing day but back open on the Sunday for the run up to New Year.

I think shops being open on Xmas day is very handy, some staff need the money.

It's not greed it's a way of life.

What about care workers and Emergency Service staff.

They have no choice either.

It's a 24/7 world we live in.

I however have Dec off!

Unfortunately my employers have nothing to do with making money, and it's a 24/7 356 thing. This year in in Xmas eve, xmas day, Boxing Day, New Years eve and near years day. :(

I know a guy who used to work at Cottam power station on the banks of the Trent, he volunteered for Christmas work every year to avoid being at home ! Re the shops opening this was really started by non Christian people (no I'm not pointing fingers here) who came here and the Christmas period meant nothing to them so why not open their shops? The thing that drives shops being open are the people who want to go shopping, take the Boxing Day sales, you will never catch me there, but to many it's something they "have" to do. Just a sign of the times we live in. No going back now.

Tony.

Well the better half works for the NHS.. and she is on Nights.. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so will be sleeping during the day.. Unfortunately people are still needing care over the holiday period. She loves her work so not complaining..

Me, in the construction and consultancy sector.. well normally runs down towards christmas.. and builds ups gain in the New Year.. So I am looking forward to seeing the old friends and familiar faces... Will be a good laugh too as always.

Well I'll get Christmas Day and Boxing Day off because customers (shoppers) will still get punctures, exhausts will fall off (it only started blowing this morning and we're going up to Scotland for new year! - yeah, right!) and I didn't realise my MOT was due. So it doesn't really matter what trade you're in, in the service sector you have to work. Just the way it is.

Yes I get that Mark, my father in law has no choice either but again it's a profession that requires a 24/7. Shops etc etc DO NOT need to open, if people are to stupid to organise in advance more fool them! Everyone deserves time with their family and friends at Christmas.

I am in my final year of a Medical science degree and work in orthopaedic surgery in theatres to pay for it. So I am working Christmas day Christmas in theatres can be either extremely busy depending on the weather (trauma) or completely flat. You can never tell what will come through the door though.
