Carly Adapter

I have just tried to connect my Carly Gen II to my daughters E85, having first confirmed it would fit. Unfortunately, whilst it does initial fit the socket, it will not "push-in" all the way. The lights initially illuminate, but as soon as you take your hand away, they are extinguished (and the Carly almost falls out). Do I need a connector/adapter? Should I push it in harder. I am naturally concerned not to break it.
I have successfully used the Carly numerous times on my E89, without issues.
Any one have any advice?
Many thanks.

I'm thinking you just need to push harder, before you do get a torch and check to see nothing is fouling in the socket.

Yes. I was very concerned about causing damage to the socket, especially as it's the daughters car!!
I did look at the internals, but it was raining (inevitably), so was not fully motivated! Will have another attempt next weekend.

I only have the Carly device and have not seen the 'adapter', so cannot say. I have spoken to Carly, who assure me, it should fit, but it cannot be located correctly.

Give the socket a spray with an electrical contact cleaner too. It might be corrosion build up on the connectors pins.

Port Solent.. so a local then. Hope to see you out on a few runs at some point.

I can certainly try that, though the car leads a very 'cosseted' life, so damp/corrosion is unlikely.
Look forward to meeting you at the forthcoming events......when ever that is now?

Have you got lights on the adaptor? I assume you have found the adaptor in your device wi-fi settings? What was the issue of it not fitting?

It's connected to the car ok... The light is showing. I've got it plugged into my phone and the phone starts carly as I knows a USB device it fitted but then in the carly app it says it can't connect

I might try deleting the reference to the USB connection to it has to create a new one. It looks to connect via USB 1 in the app but then Carly says "can't find connection USB 3"

Are you using the Carly adapter and software? Or another brand?

Once connected in the app you need to connect the software in the bottom right.

Assuming your connecting the software to the car correctly I would say its the cable your using. It needs to be a gen 2. But even if it is you should still get limited functions.
