Put some well worn tyres and give it some speed - you'll float/skim across the water - won't matter how deep it is and you won't get any inside!
I know - I did it in the LR this morning. Going down a narrow country lane (only at about 15-20mph!) this morning going round a right hand bend there was a decent lake on the near side spreading into a field. As I drifted over to the offside to skirt round it a fallen tree lurked out the darkness from the other side at just below the top of the windscreen. Hit the tree or go off roading through the water. A huge wave later
Thankfully with such huge ground clearance there's plenty of space under the car to dissipate the water.
After Monday, I think I'll stay home the rest of the week....

Reminds me of the night a few years back when driving the pool car back around Stratford and the puddle was an awful lot deeper. Following another car and he made it but the air intake on the Pug was low down. Hydrolock engine boss wasn't too pleased but got a new engine out of the insurance and a night in a friendly local's spare room.
I always check where the air intake is on our cars - Have waded through 2 feet of water in the LR but wouldn't do more than a few inches in either of the Zeds.
It was the end of a bad day and was an abused thing any way
None of us look after pool cars and care none too little about hire cars either.
I was wondering how many engines from those we've seen flooded recently end up back up for sale somewhere (or even the whole cars!). I'd have thought most engines would be OK unless of course they were running at the time.
