Dunno if it was any good or not
My brother owned an MG mid engine thingy in the 90's.
Drive home from shopping and the little boot at the back would cook your dinner for you.
Was bloody good though on a cold winters night when you had to drive a bit to get chink takeaway....:)

What was that Mike? It wasn't Tony Pond's old 6R4 was it? They were silly fast.

Tony.

Not as fast as the king though Tony. A fully plumbed in RS200 (650BHP) street legal was faster than the McClaren F1 0-60 mph.

Just another " Widow maker" though mate. Wasn't Henri Toivenen in one of those?

Tony.

Not sure mate. Think it was the Talbot Sunbeam that ploughed into the crowd killing a few and got the Group B banned? Insane cars. Good though.

No, definitely not the Lotus Sunbeam, maybe the Delta Integralle. I can remember some rally driver dying in the Ford I'm sure, mind you in the days of the group B cars it was insane.

Tony.

Toivenen did drive the Lotus but after winning the world Championship for Talbot he moved on, he was hot property then.

Think the Integrally came after Group B? That said shame it was cut short. You'd need the best part of £250,000 to get a mint RS200 today :wideyed:

Some time ago TBF, can't remember if I'm honest.
Me neither mate, I was working at a Talbot garage back then, which then turned into a Peugeot Dealership. Good times. There was a TV show a few years ago about the mad days of Rallying before they came to their senses.

Tony.

Toivenan died in a Lancia delta S4, a full space frame F1 car racing through the trees
Met the guy once along with another sadly no longer with us driver Mark Lovell
It has been described as the golden years but at what price. Love the sport but at the time like formula 1 in the 60's the price was too high

I'll just hang my head in shame now .:bag:
The only saving grace is that i have worked on and driven worse over the years (if you take in all cars)

Drove a couple of 1800s back in the day, great in the snow and owned a Marina two door fast back 1800 TC in burnt orange for a couple of weeks in the 80s (the colour didn't show the rust too badly) an absolutely horrendous car that didn't do corners, put it through a hedge in the Wye Valley at a ridiculously low speed. The wife had an Allegro when we first met, it used more oil than petrol =))

How about the Austin 1100
Now that was a top seller in the 60s, best seller in 65(ish) I believe until the Cortina out sold it.

A TVR Cerbera 4.5 V8. British car and a British built engine. One off the bucket list, near death experience every time I took it out.

There's only one British car that I'd like to drive and that's a Lotus Elise S1.
