Help please

Is the caliper really rusty? A good clean up of the body may help but possibly more likely the piston is corroded. You can by a replacement piston and seals kit from bigred braking. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-Br...2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 If you go this route try looking on there website and check part numbers with realoem or give them a call.

I refurbed my own calipers but I did have to replace a front in the end after cocking up a corroded in bleed nipple. I got them from eBay here’s a quick look on eBay left front https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-BMW-...2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

If you go to Big Red website they do a refurbishment service on your own calipers, this what I’ll be doing when I want to refurbish my calipers.
I would be doing both calipers at the same time if it was my car to keep braking performance balanced. They will even paint the calipers for you, which would complete the job.
The M calipers are marked up with M logo, so you want to keep them to keep the car’s originality.

Refurb is an option but its a straight forward job to clean them up, paint them then buy a reseal and piston kit. very cheap option.

If you're from the UK, there's a place called GB Automotive in Ossett, West Yorkshire who do a good job referbing calipers.
Thanks for that, yes really useful as I'm based in Halifax Yorkshire - I need someone to look after the whole thing as the plastic window has a hole in it too - I basically need a garage who knows these things I think!

If the roof is ok BMW the place for oem window. If your roof has shrunk a bit like most of this age Jack trimmers in Swansea the place to go for a whole new roof I think still £350 fitted may have gone up a bit since but taking into account the price of a oem window a bit of a no brainier for me at least and that’s where mines going once it’s back on the road.

loads of info on here for doing jobs. Most use just basic tools. Zedsheds are available for advice and maybe assistance. Have a look in that section to see what goes on. It’s inspired many a member to take up and do there own rear beam refurbishments.
