Well as a few of you will know I purchased a Z3 3.0 and it was a mission to collect the car. 730 mile round trip with @Oldguysrule @Lee & @GazHyde
After some consideration and with her Northern Irish links, she has been named 'Fi' short for Fiona or in the gaelic 'Fionn' meaning beautiful.
So the work commenced this weekend at The Zed Shed Southern (HQ). After the mandatory bribe of breakfast we proceeded to the parts warehouse. ( Note to self... do not tell @Lee what your budget is) This is Lee trade side and yes all that on the counter and more was for the Z3.
Part 1 ...
Also remember to take along a guy with a bigger boot that the Z3 one.
Handy things the Z4 Coupe boot.
So the work started with the car getting the mediatory up in the air, all four wheels off and on with the strip down. You will see some before and after on the front. We are still waiting delivery of some of the parts to refurbish the rear which will hopefully be delivered Monday for an early week evening session.
Front looking rather sorry for itself.
Comparison of old v new.
Brembo and Yellow Stuff Pads. Well for a 3.0 you need the extra.
Looking at the original we started with and now this, All I can say is bring on the next 80K miles.
Also on the list today were the annoying no operational seat motor on the passenger side. In steps Trevor @Oldguysrule
Replacement Water pump and Thermostat as the original was from new, As a lot of long euro runs are planned in this little girl, she needs to be on top form.
All belts replaced and any other future work has been noted.
One thing that was funny was that when @Lee released the pipe to the pump, the pressure shot the coolant into the air as a mist and we had a full sauna in the Zed shed.
@Lee enjoying what turned out to be his first steam of the day. We had some fun later thinking we had a leak when in fact it was the remaining coolant just evaporating from the radiator fins.
The Team at work.
All I can say to all the fun we had today, thanks guys could not have done so much without the help.
The list continues as we still have,
Replacement rear window to fit.
Rear Shocks.
Drop links.
Front Lollipops.(Bushes)
Rear dust guard as the Handbrake has pulled through.
and a lot more.
This little Z3 will be back on top form already for the longer euro runs on 2017 and beyond.
