I was looking for a manual , never really driven an auto what they like ?

You need to drive one. A 2.8 has plenty of grunt to drive an Auto box.

I’ve driven a 4.2 auto jag many many years ago & that was ok .

I have a 2.8 auto and it is a great drive.......if you want to get a shift on just put it in sport mode and it will keep up with the manual ones.
