@Bampz if your car is a late pre facelift with twin vanos there's a good chance it will work. If it's single vanos then it most likely wont work.
Afternoon , gave this diagnostic tool a go , took me a few hours to load onto a laptop running xp but that was probably me more than the program , anyway my zed is a Nov 1998 build with the twin vanos 2.8 engine and the program will only read DME,EWS.SRS.IKE and TOENS so anybody any ideas on a tool to read my abs module please as both lights are on?

If someone wants a cable, I have one, which you are welcome to have.

Its the USB to the IDC connector

Have a read of this thread from bimmerforums it may give you an insight to what you need to do to access all of your cars modules.

Point number 7 is the key to most problems, ie, if pin 15 is live in your round socket, then your car is a fully ads car and all modules can only be accessed by ads.

Noticed it dosn't read the ABS on my 1999 1.9, picks up the same modules as yours. INPA reads the ABS on mine ok, if you can install INPA and have the correct emulator and cable have a go with that. Software and cable/emulator I use is from BCables off ebay running on a Laptop with Win
Cheers guys will have to look further

well I have just bought the software, adaptor and cable package,
Currently I have INPA, Carly full program, C310, ELM27, airbag reset tool, and another model code reader that I can't remember the name of,
.....

I usually use INPA and NCS expert for everything, but this one looked so shiny, I just couldn't help it... :computer:

I think the only code reader I dont have now, is the Enigma one...

for Z3's it's not worth the money. you can do just as much with cheaper code readers.

Carly has many more functions than the Z3 is capable of using.
I have it for the Z4, and the1 Series that I have, and it does a lot more on them.

There is very basic functionality on the Z3. and a for (at least) £80 it's not worth it,
for that much you are better buying an old laptop and the INPA or BMW scanner setup.
