If you can get the module off relatively easily you don't have much to lose having a look inside.

The module does come off, 4no torx screws hold it in place. The ECU can come out but check with the repair company as most want both parts.
I have just had to replace the whole unit on my ///M, must do a little write up as it does get quite involved with INPA and bleeders etc.
