I see more and more cars in some shade of slate grey metalic paint and they all have black wheels. Dependant on the car I wondered what advice you clever people have on the subject. I am contemplating black wheels and kidney grills. Advice would be much appreciated.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I hate black wheels ............................... but that's just me.;) Wheels should be bright and shiny.

Tony.

I'm with Tony, not a fan of black wheels, a too like shiny. That's not to say it's wrong, just not for me :)

But the tyres are black? Ok should I have the tyres chromed?................mmmmmm now theres a thought I bet nobody else has had?

There's always white walls ?;)=)) Been done before on a Z3.

Tony.

The problem with black is that you lose the detail on the wheels. Some wheels are better than others in black, but I'd look at something lighter. Has some darkish grey wheels once and they worked well against both light and dark colours,

I agree re body colour Gaz, as I've said before, in my opinion your wheels look totally different on your car since you got it wrapped, much better.

Tony.

and they all have black wheels

Besides, you said it all in your first post, don't be another of the sheep be different. Shiny silver is the new black.;)=)) Either way, it's your car, have what you like.

Tony.

Now Tony...... I mean T-tony............... in fact thee Tony I did expect better from YOU of all members. I learned to drive and passed my driving test in my fathers 3.3ltr Vauxhall Cresta and you guessed it he had white wall tyres on it. In fact I can't remember him owning a car without it being adorned by white wall tyres. I'd rather buy some wheel trims from Halfords and pop rivet them onto my alloys than have white walled tyres. mmmmmmm.................... now theres a thought?................. how much are wheel trims these days?

Did I say that?

You've got the wrong unstable pilot?

Ha,ha, now talking about Cresta's my uncle George had several PB models when we were kids, and another family member from down "The Smoke" had a gorgeous white and yellow PA Cresta. Wheel trims, plenty available in any local car park ...................... :ymdevil:=))=))

I passed my test in a brown and cream Cresta PA, 3 speed column change 3.3ltr straight six. He had a PA, PB, PC then went onto a Viscount followed by a Ventura. Anyway thanks for the advice. Just nipping out now for a quick tour of the local car parks............. problem is I live in Blackpool so don't think there will be an over abundance of 19" wheel trims kicking around but it won't stop me trying. I take that's a no then on black wheels?

Seriously, just not my choice, and they are a bit "yesterday" . One piece of advice, please be very careful near potholes etc. as the 19" wheels are prone to cracking on the inside rim. I had to get one repaired for a member earlier this year. Yours is a lovely car, is it Sterling Grey?

Tony.

ps. I could talk about 3 speed column changes for a bit too.;)

I think you would regret it.

Thanks for the advice Tony but I am already aware of BMWs problems with their 19" alloys and I try not to even run over cats eyes unless I have to. Your opinion on wheel colour has been noted and they will remain original colour. The quick photos I took of my car in the village hotel car park were done with my phone in brilliant sunshine and makes the colour look a lot lighter than it is. The BMW colour is mineral grey.

This is the dealers sales photo and although its a bit naff it does show the colour slightly better. I will be going out with my camera shortly and will gladly share the results with other members.

It does, I hope I get to see it up close some time. Looking at that picture, if the "spokes" were done gloss black I think that would look nice?
That is how I intend to get my 108's done later this year.

Tony.
