I would go to 300. As that’s more than enough for a zed. Brembo discs and EBC yellow stuff pads will give you a great upgrade.

Are the calipers the same? 1.9 has solid 12mm discs, vented are 22mm.

Hi

Attached is a file of brake upgrade information. It will hopefully answer many of your questions.

If you want really very large brakes, follow the link right at the bottom of the document. Scary stuff without the brake bias or master cylinder size calculations. Maybe they don't have to worry about modification certification or public safety liability.

We thought that. Then checked on Realoem and the part numbers for the 286 are the same as the 300 callipers. The width is taken up by the pistons.

The breaker I get the upgrades from does a very good price for all brake parts as a lot have found out. Pm if you want details.

Great convo guys. Learned a lot. So, I'm assuming you have to get a bigger backing plate if you were to upgrade to 300mm?

No need for larger rear back plate. Current one will fit no problems. Just caliper carrier and 6 pot calipers if you have a 1.9i. All reasonable and available. Carriers will have a "505" cast mark on the inside of the carrier. They look exactly the same , just a touch longer.
