@Lee did you apply the first coat of autoglym under the chassis ? I am sure it’s going to be done very soon.

Hi all

One of my many wonderful attributes is the ability to ask many many questions...

it looks like the tool you are using to remove the shift pins is a Hellerman Plier / Sleeve Tool.

Where do you source the shift pins and various seals from? Do you find it best to go to BMW direct?

Would you use a lightened flywheel?
How do you choose your clutch kit?

Power flex (poly)bushes seem to be the preference for the diff more often then not. Why is this?

Thanks
Martin

I buy LUK OEM duel mass clutch kits unless stated otherwise. I have fitted a solid flywheel on my Zed which is 5kg lighter, great mod.

Power flex (poly)bushes seem to be the preference for the diff more often then not. Why is this? main reason being ease of install, it also helps keep everything tight at the back. The OEM bush needs to be pressed in.

Thanks
Martin
I’ve answered above in green.

Been a nice day finishing off the final bits on Andy’s Zed. We had some new dust shields to fit up front and to remake all the brake lines at the rear. Plus some other shinny bits.

First up being the front dust shields. These had totally fallen apart. While everything was off it made sense to fit some fresh Mintex pads and install the braided lines.

Big boy 46mm nut to remove and the bearing just slides off.

Not much left, it left the ABS sensor exposed.

All looking fresh again, just waiting for some fresh paint on the hubs.

Other side got the same treatment

Down the back we installed the roll bar and new drop links. Also found some of the original brackets and bolts in our spares bin.

Next I made the rear brake lines and installed the braided connections. Then it was to bleed everything including the clutch line.

Finally the last piece was the exhaust system. Some fresh flange nuts and a shinny engine brace.

All looking good, would be worth in the coming years to fit new engine mounts and power steering lines, we’re working on a kit at the moment should be ready next year for the lines.

Test drive went perfectly, rude not to get a cheeky shot in front of our local Hawker Hunter.

Now Bella just awaits her MOT in the coming weeks.

Evening Mike. It’s in the business park over the other side of the lights from where I live. It’s walking distance. (CHINEHAM)

Z4 coupe sport.
Only just catching up on HQ Z Shed's latest triumph. Lots of great pics and info. Makes me wish I still had my Z3 (along with the coupe). Like to find something on the coupe to give them to do but alas they've already done most verything. Can't find anything that they might be able to help me with, "yet". But that's a good thing NO ????.
Enjoy your revamped Z3 @andyglym back from the Z hospital, the bandages are off and the stitches all gone, it'll drive like a new one if the coupe is anything to go by.:highfive:

Roy.;)

SitRep. Picked up my favourite child post lockdown and #ZedShed magic from @Lee @GazHyde and @Oldguysrule, magic indeed! Despite the horrendous weather, a great drive covering 250 miles to Harrogate for my night pit stop. Throttle response - Check. Great.
Handling - Check. Great.
Gear selection - Check. Winchester Rifle (great).
Clutch - Great.

Runs like a dream and is properly planted :coolsteer)

If your Zed needs a pickup, contact the #Zedshed crew, you won't be disappointed.
