Well today is the day me and Grumpy have a bash at rectifying his paint work.
We have just washed the bonnet with faiy liquid and i have just shown him how to clay.

I think we have arrived at the problem. There are different depths within the same panel as though the panel has been painted in 1 coat then another coat added but not to the whole panel. I am getting readings of 380 microns down to 160 on the same panel

Try using a clay mitt lots easier for beginners but I still use lube even though they say u don't really need too.
