I will do what is required to keep it clean and tidy. It will be maintained too. However I have no intention of keeping it long term and in fact have only done that with the previous soft top, an Alfa Spider. It will eventually be passed on and at least as good as when I bought it.. hopefully (The Alfa wasn't )
5 years is usually the longest I keep any car but as I get older that may well change. I have two weekend car and the other I have had for 3½ years now.

I have always kept my cars for a long time, I bought my GT6 as a rusty wreck, when I took it for it's first MOT, the tester said "I will pass it this time but it will never pass another one". I used it for a year then took it off the road and rebuilt it and then had 20 years of enjoyable use from it. Although Triumph and BL were then long gone there was never any touble with getting replacement parts as an industry has grown up remanufacturing parts for classics. With any luck this will continue to evolve to produce parts for newer classics like the Z.
I had a GT6 for many years, mine used to belong to Leo Villa, the Campbell's chief mechanic, but had a bad front end shunt and sat in his garage for many years, it was a labour of love to rebuild it. I later sold it for a record price for a GT6 as it had one of only three Bluebird badges on the dashboard, worth a lot more than the car!

Nice looking car, I loved the GT6, mine didn't look that good though.

My beauty turned 20 years old very recently and I've had it from new. I can still see the transporter pulling up with this beautiful, gleaming dream car of mine on the back and how I remember the sheer joy of opening the door to the wonderfully intoxicating smell of the new leather!

I drive it every day: I love it! Yes, I've spent money on my car because I love the thrill of driving it so it makes perfect sense. I won't ever part with it and have never dreamt of selling it. For me, we are both custodians and guardians and long may it continue!

When i left school in 1972 the Gym/sports teacher had a bright yellow GT6. It was 1 or 2 years old.

For some reason, I never bothered taking a photo of my Royal Blue mk4 GT6 before I sold it for £600 in '87. :(

But it is still out there MOT'd and Taxed, although it is now green for some insane reason.

RNJ 150M if you happen to see it on your travels.

As for zeds, mine I consider to be preserving in its current servicible state, and enjoying. It's not ready for restoration yet.

I think that once they start going up in value and become really collectable, we then go from being an owner, to the current caretaker.

Mine's 1999 2.8L, too! Do you have anyway of measuring the length of your drive shafts, by any chance? See "Potential Diff needed" post.

Hello and thanks. I'm after the passenger side drive shaft and the driver's side, for comparison, please.

I just spoken with Andrew Page (Lincoln) and for info. both shafts are the same and they have only one in their group stock and none of their suppliers have any stock to ship. £87.01 + vat.
