Snob......;)

For our foreign members.....
Abbreviated form of the Latin phrase sine nobilitate, meaning 'without nobility' (i.e. 'of a humble social background').
Yup - Guilty as charged m'lud.

Don't see how they justify that rate - daylight robbery! I bet the guys doing the work see less than 20% of that - even then its a great rate.

Yep, find yourself a good inde, that always worked for me, used him for years with no problems.
If there were advisory's, rusty brake lines for example, he would fix things like that at no charge.

The car has been on a fixed price maintenance contract up to 150k miles (labour and parts fixed from prices back in early 2000ish - The Cam-belt service is the big one but quite late at 150k) which is why its at the stealers. Local Indy (ten minutes walk away from home) charges £50/hr so less than half, but he's a miserable so and so. He's done a couple of things for me before. He'll be getting a few more now.

The stealer just lost loads of work. Only the roll-bar issue needs to be sorted. The brakes they quoted at 13.5mm thickness. Thought that was interesting when I found out they are only 12mm when new. They also quoted over £100 more for the parts than you can get retail.
Their hourly rate is what mine is too - I'm not paying that rate for a grease monkey
I could easily take offence at that last remark!

Tony.

Sorry - Didn't mean any offence. All I'm saying is that how do they justify that rate - my boss could only charge that because of the specialist knowledge and skills. There's only a handful of people can do what I do. I'm in the wrong job :-(

=)) Got that on your CV have you?
/QUOTE]

Yes ;) - its true. Probably less than 50 in the UK that could do my job inside of 2 years....
I beat the pants of a contractor charging 4x my salary a few weeks ago. I did in 8 hours what he'd been trying to do for a month!

If I find it Mike that's definitely where it needs to go. All of Toy Town should avoid it.
