Got my wheels back from Birmingham powder coaters. The good side is price - £120 for a set. Quality is pretty s%^t, perhaps adequate to price though. Clearly they didn't pay a big attention to details. Overall it is ok, from 1 yard distance all looks new and shiny, but if you move closer it is s%^t!.

The most annoying thing is that it took them almost two weeks to get job done, despite they promised 1 week turnaround. They never call back, even when promised, the customer service is pure crap. I called them this morning and they told me all finally ready, but smartass me called them again just before departing and it turned out nothing is ready (about 2PM!). I made about 8 phone call with them today and finally got my tyres installed back to alloys and ready for collection at 5PM.

So would not recommend.

I hate companies that can not provide the service and quality we expect. Makes you wonder how they keep in business.

Get a refund mate that's awful service :(
So sorry to hear this :(

Very poor service - you should take them back and compare with similar work they have produced! The price though is very reasonable.

I hope mind turn out better than how you say yours look.
Still I like your style.

Well, it isn't that bad. Worse than samples they got in the office though. In other hand another company quoted me £340 promising OEM quality. I am not sure I am ready to throw away 85 quid for a wheel. Anyways I'll get them kerbed at some point. I would say for £30 quality is adequate, it most likely my too big expectations.

But service is pure crap. If I would be a type of person who like make row - there is a reasons for row. But I just left quietly. More cases like this and they will just fail their business naturally.

It's not good to hear about bad service especially if up close they arn't up to spec. I have to say though £120 for all 4 corners is uber cheap. Mine came in at £110 per corner though a number of areas were filled that had chunks out of them. Hope you get it sorted.

When they returned the wheels there was a marks of compound they use to fit tyres everywhere so all major issues I've found after I installed wheels back to car and cleaned. It is not that bad, overall much better they was before at least...

For sure I won't call them again and not take wheels back. My hour expensive enough to spend time on those guys. I would say, that clearly - pay peanuts - get monkeys :)

But, taking in account price I generally happy :) If there were no issues with customer service I probably won't create this thread and won't blame them.

I would say I expected something like restoration, but got cheap refurbishment, but again, on £30 per corner including tyre off/on it isn't that bad...

You're back tracking from your first post?

I used them for my style 78's and they did a very good job, despite a couple of imperfections they were perfect and I'm very happy with the quality. But like you say, their customer service is terrible. I called after a week to see if they were done and they said they were fitting the tyres that afternoon and promised to call back when they were done. Didn't get one and when I called back they said they were still in the oven and would be ready the following day. Anyway called the next day and they said yes they are ready for collection. Got there and they had just come out of the oven and they were about to fit the tyres. I had taken 2 new ones to replace the old ones on the rear. The bought them out and had only gone and fitted the old tyres! Anyway they did take them back and fit the new ones. Wheels were still warm as they had not long come out the oven and there was tyre soap everywhere.

For the price I cannot complain and my Dad has taken 2 sets there also and they did a pretty decent job but their service is terrible, somewhat understandable as they do that many sets because of the price.

I had another look to my wheels this morning. Honestly, the quality is ok for the price. The imperfections can be seen if you know where to look. I am not particularly happy with inner side - there was corrosion and it seems they not attempted to sand it before coating, but this isn't visible from outside. I would give them 3.5 of 5 for quality, 5 of 5 for price, 0 for customer service.

your story is exactly as mine. Same stuff, nothing ready, lies on phone, not calling back, etc...

I would say if price matter - perhaps they ok, but low price comes with consequences.

Honestly,I was so frustrated with poor customer service yesterday so this biased my view on quality too.

It is like one got 4 of 5 in quality an descent customer service - one will rate overall quality as 5. And vise versa! Poor customer service will stain view on actual product quality.

You have to remember they didn't start out as an alloy refurb company, they were just a powder coaters and got into the alloy refurb business as they knew they could make money. Therefore they don't have the background or specialities of a proper alloy refurb business and you can't expect there work to be perfect. That's why they charge the price they do and only do the required amount of work to get them looking respectable.

I think I fell lucky and I'd give mine 4.5 out of 5, but mine had no corrosion or kerb marks as I did all the work myself prior to them going in, they simply needed a decent strip, paint and then powder coat finish. If you take a set in with average to major corrosion then don't expect them to be perfect as they just strip and powder coat over the top.

Its a real shame about their customer service but I believe its purely due to the high turnover of wheels they get in to do. Both times I went in they must have been 12 - 15 sets of wheels that had just been dropped off and ready to be sent to be stripped and maybe 20 - 30 sets behind the counter waiting for tyres to be put back on.

Well, if they tell me before to care about corrosion - I'd do myself, and perhaps would have better result. Luckily, kerb marks I had were minor so now looks pretty good. Again, this all down to customer service.

In other hand if they tell that customers have to prep work themselves, part of customers would turn out...

When I brought my wheels they told me the aren't to bad and I can expect good result. Perhaps "good" in my understanding differ to their :)

Again, quality/price they aren't bad. The attitude is terrible though.
